Sharon M. Draper lives in Cincinnati, where she taught high school English for twenty-five years. She was named National Teacher of the Year in 1997, is board certified by the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards, and is active in the National Council of Teachers in English. Her books include TEARS OF A TIGER, FORGED BY FIRE (winner of the 1998 Coretta Scott King Award),THE BATTLE OF JERICHO, DARKNESS BEFORE DAWN, and, most recently, DOUBLE DUTCH.
