My favorite poem is "Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves" by Roald Dahl. It can be found in the book Rhyme Stew. It's about Ali Baba (Al for short) He figures out that the words "Open Sesame" will open doors in the Ritz Hotel. He opens doors and sees some things that he's never seen before. He sees a guy drinking beer in bed, a lady dancing to Rock 'n Roll in a nightgown, a guy fishing in a fish tank, and, let's just say, he opens the Honeymoon Suite. It is very bizarre and funny. Also as the cover suggests, it is unsuitable for children. (hehe)

I also particularly enjoyed the poems "St Ives" and"Hot and Cold"

It is out of print. You might be able to find it in zShops or order it used, but you can't have my copy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My favorite poem is Nothing Gold Can Stay by Robert Frost. His poem made me realize that no matter how much i wanted things to stay the same when they were good, they couldn't. Things are always changing, but you can always keep on hoping, dreaming, wanting, and having the things that are gold to you. You can find this poem in the book The Outsiders by S. E. Hinton. Just thought I'd share that with you!

For the present moment my favorite poem is "Prelude" by Derek Walcott. I first read it in a collection of his poems that I was given for my birthday this past February, and it is already on my top ten list.

Being the aspiring author that I am,I'm sometimes left extremely dejected after reading certain writers because I know I'll never write as well. What makes things worse is that he was only eighteen when he wrote it(two years
older than me).

Anyway, here are the lines that stuck in my head:"...my life, too early of course for the profound cigarette,/The turned doorhandle, the knife turning/In the bowels of the hours, must not be made public/Until I have learnt to suffer/In accurate iambics."

My favorite poem is called If, by Rudyard Kipling. It shows what you should do in presuring times, for example, one line in the poem says" If you can talk with crowds and keepyourvirtue or walk with Kings and not lose your common touch. . . " He was most probably talking about what he wanted his son to belike as the last line shows "And which is more you'll be my son" If is an inspiring poem that should teach all how to be a wonderful person.
