Cool New Books for November

This month you'll be giving thanks for the Cool New Books that have recently been released. As promised, Cecily von Ziegesar has created a brand new series called The It Girl, featuring popular Gossip Girl character Jenny Humphrey all on her own. Meg Cabot's latest addition to her Princess Diaries series arrives just in time for the upcoming holidays, and PRETTIES, the second book in Scott Westerfeld's Uglies trilogy, poses a chilling question: What happens when perfection isn't good enough?

You'll be equally as grateful for November's stand-alone titles, which include THE WILL OF THE EMPRESS, a new fantasy novel from Tamora Pierce that marks the return of the four mages who appeared in The Circle of Magic and The Circle Opens quartets, and Chris Lynch's riveting tale INEXCUSABLE, a finalist for this year's National Book Award in the Young People's Literature category.

With all this free time on their hands before summer school starts in July, Seattle comes up with a plan for them to bluff their way into the ritzy swimming pool the next town over.

Soon, romance enters into the picture for both Critter and Seattle. But when Seattle's dad shows up unexpectedly, the way of life that Critter and Seattle have always known begins to change even more...

Keir Sarafian is a good guy --- at least in his own mind. He considers himself to be a devoted son and brother, a loyal friend, and a reliable teammate. And perhaps most important of all, he understands that when a girl says "no," she means it. But Gigi Boudakian, a childhood friend and Keir's lifelong love, would strongly object to his assessment. What Gigi says he is seems impossible to Keir. It is something inexcusable --- the worst thing he can imagine, the very opposite of everything he wants to be.

As Keir recalls the events leading up to his fateful night with Gigi, he realizes that the way things look definitely are not the way they really are --- and that it may be all too easy for a good guy to do something terribly wrong.

It makes him special.
