WORD OF MOUTH

Tell Us What You Are Reading...Find Out What Other Teens Are Reading.

This contest period's winner was swissmiss291@hotmail.com, who received copy of ALL-AMERICAN GIRL by Meg Cabot.

BeRocks@aol.com
The book I recommend reading (if your a Nirvana or Kurt Cobain fan) is the Kurt Cobain Journals. In this book, the pages are actual copies from all of his real journals that he started since he was about 17 yrs old. Once reading this book, you will get a better understanding of the real Kurt Cobain, the more comical side or even the depressed suicidal Kurt that many people really didn't know much about. This book does have many curse words and profanity so really its recommended for the older teenage crowd. Stars 5/5

I am reading the book CUT. If I had to rate it 1-5 I would rate it a 4 so far. But as for girl interrupted I would have to give that a 5 since it is more detailed and more understanding to me.

Mandi200514@aol.com

I've read all of the books written by Amelia Atwater Rhodes and I believe them all to be incredible. She pulls you into a world uniquely her own for I've never read anything like her work. Characters are individual and witty, experiences don't repeat and decisions are always a little reckless. I found these books to be very enjoyable, but not perfect. I think that more interaction could be added between the characters and a little more involvement in their lives. But I give her books five stars.

Monkichia@aol.com
The Vampire Lestat, by Anne Rice, proved itself to be beyond our mortal thoughts. Isn't it weird that Anne Rice is a mortal herself? Yet, she must have some immortal blood in her to write a such wonderful tale, making me look around during night imagining vampires romping around and drinking blood. Not that I'm scared of the idea of having my blood drunk because her descriptions makes me WANT to encounter a vampire. That book earns five or infinite stars, easily.

Marcavage@aol.com
Painted House by John Grisham. Is an excellent book. I give it a 5.
Faking It by Jennifer Cruise. I give it a 4.

SIMSHABS@aol.com

I am reading the Carnivorous Carnival by Lemony Snicket. I give it 5 *****s.
I have read the entire series and I can't wait for more. What an unusual way of writing this author has. He doesn't even let you know who he really is.

djMax 4.5 stars - Lisa forrest
Maxine Phillips raised by her Grandparents. Is asked to fill in for her DJ teacher. Her grandfather finds out about her djing but overcomes his disappointment in her, and actually enjoys djing. Maxine has to use all she and her friends know to save their school. The only thing I thought could improve this book for me was more of a spark between Max and her Grandfathers' store help Herbie.

livin' large 4 stars - Daniella petkovic, Maria Kokokiris, and Monica Kalinowska
This book is set in the 80s and is about how late teens in the 80s grew up with friends from other countries. The book is also about relationships, and the need for friends when you have an abusive father. It has descriptive sex scenes.

Protector of the Small Quartet 5 stars - Tamora Pierce
This book had everything for me. It was great. Love, mystery, Adventure.

Comrades 5 stars - Amy Brown. NB: This novel was written by my friend and so is not published. Yet.
Think Tamora Pierce. Medieval, with all the qualities of my friends and mine taste. Hopefully one day you may be able to read it as well.

Sophie 3 stars - Chloe Sinclair. NB: This is my novel. Still in working progress.
My friend says it great for a first novel, by I'm disliking it less and less, and keep changing angles.

These are the books I've read in the past week or so. Aren't Holidays great for reading.

A Walk to Remember
***** (five stars)

This is an awesome book, by an amazing author. It is something every teen should be able to relate to, first love by two young, very different people, but there is an unexpected twist that you would not guess. This makes the book so much more interesting and a real tear jerker. I have never read a book about first love that was better than this one. Please give it a try. (Also, the movie is really brought to life and is wonderful)

Lately I've read The Phantom of the Opera by Gaston Leroux, the classic novel the musical was based on, and Phantom, by Susan Kay, which delves more into the life of Erik, the Phantom, from his birth to his death. I've also been reading The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King - LotR is an excellent series.

Read the book,"Hard Love" by Ellen Wittlinger. I really enjoyed reading it, it made me laugh and it made me cry. I got into the character John. It's about a boy finding himself. He has a friend named Marisol whose a lesbian. It's a book you'll enjoy. Girls will relate to the, cant touch the best guy friend kind of relationship that goes on. And I would like to recommend "Gingerbread", by Rachel Cohen. It's really similar to Hard Love. It's about a gothic teenage girl whose hormones are out of control. She lives with her mother and carries around a doll named Gingerbread, when she goes to met and stay with her father in New York, she learns life long lessons. They are both a 5 out of 5 star quality books. I'm not much of a book reader and for some reason these two books got to me. They are both a MUST READ!

Chquita16@aol.com
I read 2 amazing books that I would definitely recommends
1) Tuesdays With Morrie by Mitch Albom
2) Lovely Bones
Both were tear jerkers but very good.
Also for school I read "I know why the Caged Bird Sings" which was pretty good. You had to wait till the last 6 chapters but the book was worth reading to get to those 6.

I am reading the third book in the Protector of the Small quaretet. Its called Squire. Its by Tamora Pierce. I love the whole series because it shows a girl doing what she wants to even if no one wants her too. I think its great that she sticks to what she wants and goes after her goals. I give all four books five stars

joyciek@earthlink.net
i have recently read a few very good books. just finished "Dangerous lives of alter boys"witch was great i loved it so much. now i gotta c the movie, im very happy cuz my fav. actress jena milone in it.ok back to the book, well it was very funny and id give this book a 4 out of five maybe a 4 and a half.

i also read FEED was about the future and non-consumerism. the story revolved around an interesting romance the main character has with a very different girl who shows him there is life with out the feed. id give this book a 5 out of 5.

another good book with the same topic of non consumerism is "the gospel according to Larry" about a boy who starts a web site where he preaches about how gap, Nike and abrocobe and Fitch is evil and how materialism has talking over our lives. this book is very fun i like it a lot because soon the boys site is very popular. everyone try's to figure out who Larry is things get crazy when his best friend (who he is secretly in love with) starts a Larry fan club. i wont tell u what happens at the end but he gets found out and everything turns chaotic. id give this book a 5 out of 5.

ps. remember to read a lot of francesa lia block my fav. author and im sry i wrote so much and for my bad grammar and spelling which is crazy that im doing so bad in these subjects seeing a read so much. ok if ur every really bored u can alwasy IM me at joycrdhb for some good books.

A really great book that I recently read was Stargirl by Jerry Spinelli. I would give it ***** (out of *****).
This is a wonderful and inspiring book, about first love and individuality. It made me reflect upon my life so far, and it has persuaded me to be a little more like Stargirl, and not to be scared or shy about letting my individuality and the real me shine through!

HONEYPOT88@aol.com
Razzle by Ellen Wittlinger ***** (out of *****)

I just finished Parvana's Journey by Deborah Ellis. It follows The Breadwinner also by Ellis. The story takes place in Afghanistan when the Taliban has taken control. Parvana can't find her family and while on her journey across the countryside she meets other children who are strays of the war. She is a dynamic young woman, dressed as a boy, who has an incredible will to live.

**The proceeds from these books go to Women for Women which is an organization that helps women in Afghanistan.
