This contest period's winner was butterflybabe639@hotmail.com, who received copy of MY THIRTEENTH WINTER: A Memoir by Samantha Abeel.

ccat532@yahoo.com
I would like to recommend the Anne Frank: Diary of a Young Girl book. Not only is it something that really happened, but it is a book that you can read, and say "I wonder what I would have done if that were me" or "I wonder how she felt in that situation". This book is a MUST for teens who are looking to find themselves. It's a good way to teach them history too, but in an interesting way. On a scale from 1 to 10, I give it a 15.

laphena@aol.com

I just finished reading YOU DONT KNOW ME: a Novel by David Klass. It is very inspiring and very heartfelt, a lot of kids can relate to this book in how abuse needs to be stopped. SO many kids area abused and are in the same situation as John. I know what it's like to not be able to talk about it. I really realted with this book, I chose to do my exam paper on it. It's just a well written, interesting book that deals with many other teen issues as well.

aqugirl_2008@yahoo.com

kekaantyca@aol.com
Confessions of a Shopaholic by Sophie Kinsella. The life of a financial journalist and the difficulties she encounters trying to save money to pay back loans and credit card debts. It's a very interesting book, hard to put down, and i highly recommend it to girls who love to shop 5 stars!

tberning@frontiernet.net
I think you should read The felicity series from American Girl. I give it 5 stars because it is a girl who loves horses.

Waterpump5@aol.com
Gone with the Wind is a classic novel that continues to be vibrant even now. It's reflections of our Southern past and its romance combine to form a truly great book. The length is quite long, but its definitely worth reading, and the resolution is like nothing you have ever read. This truly is a classic never to be forgotten.

laprimholstein@aol.com
Gingerbread by Rachel Cohn is an amazing book. The main character, Cyd Charisse, feels like she could be your best friend. She is uninhibited and outspoken, and always manages to escape trouble. Gingerbread may make you feel like busting out of your boring life and embarking on adventures like Cyd.

imac2401@netscape.net

"The Thief Lord" by Cornelia Funke is a really good book about this boy who calls himself the Thief Lord and leads a band of kids, including on girl named Hornet, a boy named Mosca, another boy named Riccio and two boys (brothers) named Prosper and Bo. iluveminem_13@hotmail.com
I give FADE written by Robert Cormier five stars. It is an AMAZING book. It tells about a boy who can turn invisible and see what other people (who believe they are alone) are doing. We all wish to be invisible at one point in our lives so we can spy on other people. But this story will show you the horror of spying and the traumatization of what a wish like this can bring to a person. It's not a sci/fi type of book. It's a suspence novel that will keep you on your toes.

missy_knight@hotmail.com
i have to say that my favourite author is Tamora Pierce... but then i have these other 2 authors that are competing hard with her, they are Janny Wurts and Raymond .E Feist, who have put together their minds, and come up with these fascinating, and clever fantasy books, called The Empire Trilogy. The storyline is full of intrigue, romance, battle, friendship, tragedy, and is a brilliantly satisfying read. i give it 10 out of 10!

Apluscol@bellsouth.net

It really depends on what you're in the mood for, so here are two recs for different moods. If you want some thing light and funny, try any of Terry Pratchett's Discworld series, and my favorites are any with Commander Vimes. At the end, you'll be laughing, but you'll also have a feeling that there was some sort of deep message - even if you haven't a clue what it was. If you want something darker, The Shadow War series by George Lucas and Chris Claremont (Shadow Moon, Shadow Dawn, Shadow Star) are very good and very dark.
If you want more books to read, email me. I also have a site of book recs.

doubletrouble_00013@yahoo.com
Memory Boy by: Will Weaver *****
It's very good. The futuristic scene makes you think about what could happen.
Slaves of the Mastery ***** and Firesong ***
(#2 and #3) by William Nicholson
Really good, but the way they end stinks! Other than that, I would've given the third one five stars two..Whatever happened to happy endings?
Elske by Cynthia Voigt ****
Very good, but also very strange.. I think Elske herself would make a better ruler than the "queen." She's a jerk!
The Runner by Cynthia Voigt *********
So good! Better than Homecoming or Dicey's Song. If you liked those you'll love this. It's sad, (I cried) but that just adds to it.

I just got finished reading "Every time A Rainbow Dies" by Rita Williams-Garcia. It was an enchanting book about a sixteen year old boy named Thulani who falls in love with a rape victim named Ysa.His mother recently died and she was the center of his world so hes trying to come to grips with her death. He hasnt seen his father since he was three...so he lives with his older brother and siter-in law in Brooklyn, NY. He loves birds, and takes care of stray pigeons on his roof everyday. He hardly attended school or cared about anything, until Ysa came along. It became a cat-and mouse game between them because he wanted to be with her and she didnt want to have anything to do with him. Anyway its a great book that will have you angry, eyes full of tears, and a smile from ear to ear. GO OUT AND READ IT!!

UnknownSender@UnknownDomain
As a part-time library employee, I've read other famous books before except Kingdoms and the Elves of the Reaches. I once felt reluctant to read all the Kingdoms and the Elves books. One day, I decided to buy a hardbound copy of Kingdoms and the Elves of the Reaches, and I realized that I am getting hooked to it. An excellent example of the 'hero's quest' type of book.

ellebear17@hotmail.com
I read the Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass: an American Slave by Frederick Douglass. This book comes from the heart. Douglass's haunting descriptions of his life as a slave reflects the terror and pain of this shameful era.

butterflybabe639@hotmail.com
The Cirque Du Freak series by Darren Shan are really awesome and description. The author has a great sense of imagination!! I give the series a 5!
