kraxy_katy@sbcglobal.net
I recently read a wonderful book called A Corner of the Universe by Ann M. Martin, who many of you may know as the author of the Baby-Sitters Club series. This book is the story of a shy eleven-year-old girl named Hattie who has only one friend. Then came the summer that changed her life. Hattie lives in a boardinghouse with her mother, father, and three renters Mr. Penny, Mrs. Hagerty, and Angel Valentine in the 1950's or so. Hattie's only friend goes away every summer, and though the famliy always offers to take her with, hattie always kindly refuses. That is why Hattie spends most of her summer with the other members of the boarding house and at home. Then one day her parents have news for her, Hattie has another Uncle whom she had never known about before. Of course Hattie had known about her Uncle Hagerty, but not this new one her parents speak of. Her new Uncle is named Adam, who has been away at school for the past ten years. Adam is 21 but acts like a young !
child most times due to a mental illness. Now that Adam's school has closed down he has come to live with Hattie's Nana and Papa, who live in town, for the summer. Adam loves to quote I Love Lucy and tells Hattie that she is the kind of person who can lift the corners of the universe. Although Hattie does not know what that means, she and Adam soon become best friends. They become so close that Hattie forgets that Adam is her Uncle and not just a good friend. Hattie and Adam have great times together, even going to the carnival that has come to town. Fred Carmels Funtime Carnival is a great place to hang out, and it is where Hattie makes another friend Leila, whose whole family works for the carnival. A chilling twist at the end of this book made me cry. This heartwarming story is about making friends and defeating enimies. And how to lift the corners of the universe. Hope you enjoy it!

brenna_m16@hotmail.com
I like to read any book written by Sarah Dessen because all of her novels have a deeper meaning and they always leave me feeling good about myself.

shkruger@hotmail.com
SON OF THE MOB by Gordan Korman is an excellent book. Sort of a Romeo and Juliet in the modern day. There is the boy whose father is the head of the mob and the girl whose father is the FBI agent assigned to his father. You guessed it - they get together. But there is a lot of fun stuff mixed in. I give it 4 1/2 stars.

ariella440@hotmail.com
Mind Storms by Neal Shusterman was awsome. I literally could NOT put the book down! I can't wait to read more of his stuff. Also, I like the books by Diane Duane. Every book places the characters in such different positions!

I'd have to say my favourite book I've erad recently would be " I capture the castle" by Dodie Smith. It's about a girl who keeps a diary and lives in an old castle wiht her father step-mother house-keeper and older sister. The book is mainly about a teenage girl trying to live life to the fullest. I;d give this book ****1/2 stars out of five.

possessed_by_myself@yahoo.com
ok i have to recomend Sloppy Firsts and its sequel Second Helpings by Megan Mccafferty. The main character is a named Jessica(coincedently so am)and i could totally relate to her. After her best friend moves away she get stuck with the rest of their group which she doesnt really relate to, and its all about how she deals with the rest of her high school years. there written in the form of a diary but there reads like a book. I give them five out of five. I recommend it to anybody who is looking for teen-angst filled novel. Anyone can read the, a two thumbs up.

allison@teamclaxton.com

amandaskib@aol.com
If you're a fantasy lover then you'll love the books I'm about to recommend. These books are the His Dark Materials trilogy by Philip Pullman. In this trilogy there is the first book, The Golden Compass, followed by the second, The Subtle Knife, and finally the third, The Amber Spyglass. All of these books include Lyra, a teen whos a lot different than the ordinary. She lives in Jordan College in Oxford and the strangest thing is everyone has daemons! If you didn't know this already, daemons are creatures that can't seperate from you and they would have been with you since you're born. There almost like a part of you! Any way, Lyra recieves a mysterious compass, but this isn't your ordinary compass. There's symbals and numerus arrows everywhere. Along through her adventures she meets many more characters and more and more mysterious objects are obtained. I wonder what they're for? These books are suspenseful and adventure filled.

juz1babiigrl@sbclobal.net
My would recommend The Coldest Winter Ever by Sister Souljah.I would also recommend What My Mother Doesn't Know by Sonya Sones or Jinx by Margaret Wild.I have fallen in love with all these books!!!!

melebesc@necedah.k12.wi.us
Right now I am reading 'Blue is for Nightmares' by Laurie Faria Stolarz. It is a great book to read. It's about a teenager who is having nightmares about her friend. She wants to ignore the dreams but the last time she did, someone she knew ended up being killed. I am only towards the beginning of the book but it's already great. You need to read it for yourself.

NikkiS@pfbabyz.zzn.com
I am reading Daughters of the Moon and lots of cool books. If You haven't Land of the Living I recomend it BUT it is sorta an adult book with SOME {like one} X-rated things I have just Finished The Face on the Milk Cartoon and What happned to Janie Those are also great books % stars to all of these!!!!!

sg5ant@aol.com
Usually when I read books, I look at the text and suddenly my mind goes blank. I find myself thinking of other things like 'what's for homework?' or 'what will I do this weekend?' I don't focus and can't focus on what I am reading because I am thinking of other things. What made me come to read this book was because of some girl who kept bragging about The Kingdoms and the Elves. It got so annoying and all I thought was 'what is so good about The Kingdoms and the Elves?' I came to find out by checking the book from my library. Turning to the first chapter, I started to read and read and more and when I turn to look at my clock, I see that I've been reading for 2 whole hours! I know its not much but 2 hours straight for me was a big difference. I used to read a lot before but I stopped. Anyway if you have NOT read the book, believe me.. the book is waaayyy better than anything else. Read it!! Your imagination expands tremendously, therefore, you've got to read this book!!

glory_fade@yahoo.com
One great book I have read is Crooked by Laura and Tom McNeal. It's about a boy and a girl, both secretly crushing on each other and two brothers who are known to make trouble. The book is written in alternating views of the boy and the girl, making it even more interesting. Soon all four lives intersect and a strange turn of events cause all of them to take a good look at themselves, and the world around them.

swimmng@citlink.net
I am reading the year of secret assignments. I give it two thunbs up. the second book I would recomend is the queens own fool. another recomendation is a great and terrible beauty. these are great books.

josephine_jalleh@yahoo.com
‘Roots’, which is written by Alex Haley is undoubtedly the best, heart-warming book I have ever read. It is the story of Kunta Kinte, who is from Africa. He is an extremely brave, loyal young man from a small village, Juffure, in The Gambia. He has turned 17 and was very excited because he has become a man. But unfortunately, things did not turn out the way he would like it to be. One day, while he was out chopping wood to make a drum, he was abducted and sent on a slave ship to the New World to become a slave.
In America, a John Waller, who treated him like dirt, bought him. Kunta tried to escape 4 times but he was caught and finally, the slave-catchers cut of his right foot. He was then sold to John Waller’s brother, a doctor who treated his slaves better.

Kunta got married and had a daughter, Kizzy. She was taken from her parents to become a slave to another master. He used her for his own pleasure and she had a mulatto baby, George. George grew up to be fighting cock trainer. He got married and had kids, too.

So, the story goes on until Alex Haley was born. When he was a young boy, he would hear stories of Kunta Kinte, who claimed he was from Africa and was also very proud of his homeland. Then, Alex Haley set out to find out the true story of Kunta and his history. It took him 12 years to complete the book. Really, read it for yourself and you will learn a lot. It made me appreciate that I have my family with me now and I have no one torturing me till I bleed, half-dead, and practically losing hope of ever getting the chance to be free again. This book deserves 5 out of 5 stars!

allsmiles4eva@myself.com
I recommend Trickster's CHoice by Tamora Pierce as well as all of her other books because they combine adventure, magic, romance and all good elements of a novel. They are incredibly timeless and good rereads!I would definately give these books 5 stars!

clarinetluver@alltel.net
I reccommend the book A Tree Grows in Brooklyn by Betty Smith. This book is about a young girl named Francie and how she grows up poor in Brooklyn in the early 1900s. She learns that as long as you have family, you will never be poor.

lilymalaya@yahoo.com
Sweep by Cate Tiernan was the best book series I've ever read, for teenagers. The first book is "Book of Shadows" where you're introduced to Morgan, Bree, Robbie, Cal, and a bunch of other high schoolers who all start up a coven, which is a group of Witches. It's not about Satan worshipping but it's not like Harry Potter. Give it a try, it'll definitely keep you reading. Six out of five stars.

Kellielle56@aol.com
Tears of a Tiger by Sharon M Draper
I would rate it the highest rating a book could recieve

Wyochic13@aol.com
I just got done reading "The Watcher"by James Howe.It is really intristing and keeps you reading,it isn't borring like some other books.Check it out i give it **********(10 stars!)!!!!!

buggirl89@yahoo.com
My number one recommendations are THE PRINCESS FROG and it's sequel DRAGON'S BREATH by E.D. Baker. THE FROG PRINCESS is about Princess Emeralda. She isn't the best princess. She trips over her own feet and she hates Prince Jorge whom her parents want her to marry. She spends all her time at the swamp in her kingdomo and ends up kissing a frog, who claims to be a prince named Eadric, to turn him into a prince but the reverse happens and she becomes a frog. The book tells of her andventures as a frog. The sequel begins where THE PRINCESS FROG leaves off. It continues the adventures of Princess Emeralda or Emma and Prince Eadric.

raindew001@netscape.net
I just finished *Geography Club* by Brent Hartinger--a book about a gay teen in a high school who feels very alone. Because of some risks he takes, he finds some other gay and lesbian teens he can talk to. But homophobia is strong where he lives...and he risks a lot. I give it 3/5 stars.

While it was easy to read, I didn't always believe in the characters. Also, there was a lot of talking to the reader, which yanked me out of the story. BUT the story addressed some real issues, and could be very affirming to gay teens or anyone interested in reading about it. So, I recommend it, think it's pretty good...it's just not my fav.

notsodumblonde28@aol.com
The sisterhood of the traveling pants is the best book i have ever read! i give it 6 out of 5 stars!! It really kept my attention( i read it in 2 days) and i was relatable. I definately recomend it!

notsodumblonde28@aol.com
I just finished HOLDING ON TO MAX. It was so great! It's about a boy in highschool that gets his girlfriend pregnant and keeps the baby while going to school and playing basketball. You really get sucked in and get attached to the characters.

suzannax143@aol.com
What I recommend is DON'T LOOK BEHIND YOU by Lois Duncan. Its about a girl named April, who her and her family must secretly runaway for their own protection, ending up changing their names and moving to a different state. Most of all they can't go back to their normal lives or talk to their family or friends.

twobastarr@aol.com
JOAN LOWERY NIXON'S NIGHTMARE is a good sespense story. a good book that will leave you wondering at the end of every chapter. the transition between Emilys life and the killers finding are great. 5 out of 5 satrs at the least.

shkruger@hotmail.com
The new Meg Cabot book THE PRINCESS IN PINK is great! 5 *****'s

kaseyd3@yahoo.com
Good books are sometimes hard to come by, but I have found two great books. Growing Up Fast by Jonnna Lipper is one great book i have recently read and enjoyed. It is a non-fiction masterpiece about the hardships of teenage parents. It definitely opened my eyes to problems out there that i never really realized were so huge and troubling in America. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who is interested in non-fiction books and the truth they address.
Another book that i read was Frozen Rodeo by Catherine Clark. Unlike the last book this was is much more fictional and funny. It shows the life of a teenager and the tipical problems we face. It had a lot of really odd and funny senarios in the book such as the wrecking of a golf cart in the pool, but you'll just have to read it to find out it happened and what comes of the accident. Anyone who wants to read a funny, light-hearted book should definitely go out and get this one.

xianbandrocker@yahoo.com
I'm reading Empress Of The World. It's a really cool book. I give it a five out of five. Though some people might think it's gross (because basically it's about a girl liking a girl), it's really not that bad. I'm surprised that there's not a review of this book on this site!

neverletgo101@aol.com
I just finished Lucas by Kevin Brooks and I LOVED IT! It is a semi-love story, but is mostly about the strange ways that fear and hate can cause people to act in. It is a really really really great book and it has a heart breaking ending. Once I started reading it I couldnt put it down! I recommend this book to anyone who loves stories about love and hope!!!!

firefairy891@aol.com
i just finished reading Go Ask Alice. It's a real diary of a girl who goes through using drugs and how she deals with guys, school, family, and her drug problem. It was GREAT, all my friends have read it.

firefairy891@aol.com

I reccomend the book,"A Girl Named his book is a beautiful description of the tough times of a young girl's life from a foreign country. I never forget the wonderous words of this divine dessert.

melissa16g@yahoo.com

I would recommended the book 'Witch Child', by Celia Rees. In this book you follow the story of Mary, via her diary entrys. Learn about her adventures from England to America, after her grandmother is killed for being a witch, but things in America arent much better for Mary. Several members of her town, noticed how 'abnormal' Mary is, and we all no what that means! She must be a Witch! I give this book a 5 stars.

pennygirl7@hotmail.com
I would recommend Hangman's Curse by Frank Perretti, and I would give it 5 stars out of 5. Its a mystery that keeps you on the edge of your seat, and the suspense makes you want to read more.

crimsonrose87@hotmail.com
This Lullaby by Sarah Dessen is my all time favorite book!It had great writing and it was one of those books you just never wanted to end,but unlike a lot of books it did have a satisfying ending. It wasn't too deep either. It's just a fun book with a lot of humor in it and I just loved it.I'd definately give this book 6 out of 5 stars!=)
