The Truth About Forever by Sarah Dessen
Rating: 5 Stars
This is my favorite book of all time, coming a close second to ELLA ENCHANTED. Ever been in an intense game of Truth? Well, Macy has... This book will take you through a crazy whirlwind of sadness, humor, and love; and you'll fall in love with the totally hot and artistic Wes. You'll also fall in love with this book... "What would you do if you could do anything?"

Twilight by Stephenie Meyers
Rating: 5 Stars
I know everyone else loves this book too, but I still have to say it's one of the best books I've read in a long time. I normally hate romantic blech, but I couldn't put this book down. If only Edward was real . . .

Intuition by Allegra Goodman
Rating: 2 Stars
I didn't really like the book. The characters seemed pretty two-dimensional; I wasn't sure who I was supposed to sympathize with --- Cliff, the young kid with promise who had everything handed over to him; or Robin, the hard working, jealous, but not spoiled researcher that almost seems to have a personal vendetta against him? The lines are blurry, but perhaps that's the point of the book. I wouldn't recommend it.

Just Listen by Sarah Dessen
Rating: 5 Stars
My rating for this story is no exaggeration. JUST LISTEN is my favorite book out of all that I have read so far this year. I don't even exactly know what it is about it. It held me spellbound, and I couldn't put it down! I cried more than once, and I laughed many a time, and with this story you become so attached to the characters. Who they are, their actions, and what they say can lead you to smile, cry, laugh, or scream out loud! I'm not sure what I can say to convince you, but if you decide to read any newly published books this year, this is the one to pick.

Rating: 3 Stars
I liked this book alright. You seem to really be the character and understand them. The ending was a real suprise to me. I never expected any of the things that happened. I only give it a 3 because compared to other books I have read, it wasn't the best. But, I still recommend this book for a quick read for people who need a book while they are waiting for another.

Startled By His Furry Shorts by Louise Rennison
Rating: 5 Stars
This is the seventh book in Louise Rennison's series about a young teen's life. It is extremely hilarious and it actually makes me laugh out loud! Georgia Nicolson is a fourteen year old living it Britain. Her parents are . . . interesting, she has a cat the size of a small dog, and a little sister who enjoys singing about her bum. If you like funny books you will love this. I highly recommend it to anyone. (Hint --- read ANGUS, THONGS, AND FULL-FRONTAL SNOGGING first.. then follow the rest of the books until you get to this one.. they are all super good!)

The Calypso Chronicles by Tyne O'Connell
Rating: 5 Stars
I've just finished reading all 3 of the books in this series (PULLING PRINCES, STEALING PRINCES, and DUELING PRINCES). They are very funny and entertaining; I couldn't stop reading them. They're stories about Calypso, an American girl who goes to a rich boarding school in England where she's an outcast and always picked on by the popular girls. She then ends up meeting the Prince and dating him. They're amazing books about love and friendship. Definite must-reads.

Angels in Pink trilogy by Lurlene McDaniel
Rating: 5 Stars
Wow, these books are amazing. I recently read all three, one right after another, within a few days. Each book is a story of one of the three main girls, Kathleen, Holly, and Raina. The three best friends decide to volunteer at the hospital for the summer, and all of their lives are deeply impacted. They have to deal with boys, their families, secrets, patients, illnesses, and deaths. They're very moving books and I recommend them to everybody.

This book is deeper and more creative than any other book I have read. I'm towards the end now and I wish there was so much more! I wish there was a sequel or something because I really love this book. I would recommend it to anyone who loves reading about an average person finding someone that is totally different from them and finding out that they do drugs and a bunch of other lies! This book really keeps you at the edge of your seat. I promise you it will have you up all night long, either reading it or dying to figure out what will happen next. There are so many twists in this book! It's just so exciting and a real thriller. This book was not at all what I expected. It was so much more!!!

The Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown
Rating: 5 Stars
This book is as good as its prequel (ANGELS & DEMONS). The book has all the same kind of mysteries. You definitely have to read the epilogue at the end --- it explains everything that happened in the book that had remained unanswered. It had great twists and thrills. Robert Langdon is once again a great hero. The movie comes out May 19th, and I recommend reading the book before you go see the movie.

This is a very disturbing look into how a family copes after the younger son is murderd in a drive-by shooting. The father thinks that if he would not have been so nice and loving that his son would have been tough and smart enough to survive, so he takes drastic measures to make sure that his oldest doesn't suffer the same fate. In his attempt to follow the ancient African manhood ritual, he leave his son Man and Man's friend Kee-Lee in the woods alone. They survivive and eventually make it home only to be turned out into the streets to survive. Man fares far better than Kee-Lee and learns some important life lessons along the way. This is a very compelling book by the author of other teen favorites such as THE SKIN I'M IN, MONEY HUNGRY, BEGGING FOR CHANGE, and WHO AM I WITHOUT HIM?

ELEVEN MINUTES tells the story of a girl who wanders in search of true love and gets annoyed when she doesn't find it. This book was really good because it shows how this girl reacted to her mother's death and how it affected her whole life. I think this is a good book because lots of teens can relate to Ruby.

I Am Morgan Le Fay by Nancy Springer
Rating: 5 Stars
Usually I am in love with vampire books, but I found this book in my 5th grade English class and chose it because it had a cool cover (Well, I ended up taking it home..oops). Anyways, I found it years later after we moved (which is recently), and now I'm in high school, and I read it. This was an amazing book about the dark Sorceress Morgan Le Fay, her love life, and how she became a sorceress. I'm not really into the whole Camelot scene, but after I read this, it changed my mind and even opened it to more books like this one. I AM MORGAN LE FAY is magical, romantic, and deeply sad. It teaches you that you cannot stop fate, no matter how much magic and power you posess. A must read!

GO ASK ALICE is one of the best books I've ever read. It has a very powerful message. It's about a girl going through high school who's average and ordinary at first, then she starts using drugs and her life becomes one crazy roller coaster. Megan Meade's Guide to the McGowan Boys by Kate Brian
Rating: 5 Stars
MEGAN MEADE'S GUIDE TO THE MCGOWAN BOYS was a great book. It is about an Army Brat whose parents are being transferred to Korea. Megan is not estactic about the move, so she moves to Boston to live with the McGowan Family. She had seen the McGowan boys when they were just kids and little terrors. Now that she sees them as teens, its a whole different story. This story has everything, from soccer, to crushes, drama and problems. I recommend this book to girls... since they will enjoy it more. I guarrantee that most readers will want a sequel. READ THIS BOOK!!!

Angels & Demons by Dan Brown
Rating: 3 Stars
I did like this book although I don't find Dan Brown's writing the best. I thought that the plot was very similar to that of THE DA VINCI CODE and the style was very predictable, but it was a good read if you are bored, enjoy somewhat historical fiction and like fast paced not-entirely-believable books.

Fast Girls by Emily White
Rating: 5 Stars
I really enjoyed reading this short nonfiction book about "teenage tribes and the myth of the slut." The whole book is about how, in society, we wrongly judge and label people as 'sluts.' Then it describes what it's like to be the "slut" or "whore" of the school. This book is based on the author's own experiences and conversations with the so mentioned "sluts."

Go Ask Alice by Anonymous
Rating: 4 Stars
This book taught me how much drugs can really screw up your life. I know schools tell us how wrong drugs are and how bad the consequences can be, but most kids shun those lectures and don't think any wrong of it. Reading this book makes me realize that the things our school tells us are true and they're not just exaggerating. I give this 4 stars because it's sort of hard to understand the setting. For instance, things happen and she talks about them in the past-tense, and I think, "What? When did that happen?" But, you can't blame her because this is a real diary. No one writes their diaries as if they're novels. She never intended it to be a book.

Rating: 5 Stars
THE PURPLE HAT GANG is a unique book regarding five best friends in the early sixties who refer to themselves as The Purple Hat Gang: "Doers of Good Deeds and Captains of the World." When the main character/narrator turns thirteen, the other four girls throw her a surprise birthday party that turns into a night they will never forget. They decide that, as near-adults, they should start sharing everything that is in their hearts with each other, and that is exactly what they do. The night of the party, the five girls find out more about each other than they ever thought possible, and the book reflects on the problems and struggles they face regarding the things they admit to the night of the party. This is an adorable, fast-paced book full of twists and surprises that I enjoyed in the few days it took for me to finish it, considering that I hardly put it down.

The Pretty Committee Strikes Back by Lisi Harrison
Rating: 5 Stars
This book is the 5th book in "The Clique" series, and it's totally awesome. I can only say I didn't like the ending because it leaves you off at a cliff hanger ending. There are 5 girls, Massie, Kristen, Alicia, Dylan and Claire. They are the most popular girls at Octavian Girls School. This time they are headed out for camp, oh --- I forgot to say that the boys from Briar Wood are going too! Love is in the air...
If you've read this series, you probably love it as much as me. This book and the series always keeps you on your toes, and it is a new series, so you have to wait for the next book to come out. But before you read it, I recommend the first four (THE CLIQUE, BEST FRIENDS FOR NEVER, REVENGE OF THE WANNABES, and INVASION OF THE BOY SNATCHERS) They go through things that you do in your everyday life, and it makes you want to be in the book and be like them. It's so updated. I love "The Clique" series.

It's Kind Of A Funny Story by Ned Vizzini
Rating: 5 Stars
This was one of the most amazing books I think I have ever read. It was interesting for me to kinda see into a boy's mind, especially when he talks about girls. The story is about a kid who is put under so much pressure he ends up in a mental hospital. It's one of those stories that makes you think... I think that tells you it is a good book.

This book really puts things into perspective. A girl genius is rejected from the only university she wanted to attend --- also the only one she applied too. She now has to deal with what do do after graduation and the bully that just moved in because of a fire. Did I mention her father is a Reverend and she is on a road to atheism?

Ingrid Leven-Hill has gotten mixed up in a murder case thanks to her favourite Pumas. She has only her idol, Sherlock Holmes, words, and her buzzes oh inspiration to help her out of the tangled web she wove. Also, her part as Alice in Alice in Wonderland creates more confusion, as does her relationship to the police cheif's son. Who can do all of this and still make it to soccer championships?

Even though this book was assigned as homework, it was good. It's about a young boy who is suffering because his parents had divorced. He flies back to his father, but the pilot dies from a heart attack while flying. He must land the plane and survive on his own. This book was interesting and gives a plot that may never happen. This adventure story shows that you are alone and must survive on your own at times when needed.

This was an amazing book by Meg Cabot about a teenager who moves to a new place and finds strange coincidences between some of the people in her new school and the story of King Arthur. The links between them are very clever and it is really really interesting and unpredicable!

The Tenth Power by Kate Constable
Rating: 4 Stars
The last of an unforgettable trilogy, ("The Chanters of Tremaris Trilogy") this book teaches about a world with its people seperated from a long-ago hurt. Though the world is dying and people are fighting, Calwyn learns to trust friends, and to keep her spirit alive with hope. Though she lost just about everything, Calwyn's hope brings a new light to her world, where everyone is joined with love.
An amazing story of love and hope, one that must be read.

All About Sam by Lois Lowry
Rating: 5 Stars
This book seems to be like a comedy. It would make anyone laugh out loud. Sam is about the age 5, but the book starts when he's a cute baby and spans his life until nursery school. He tells you his ideas about hair cuts, getting shot, and show and tell. And he is just so fun to read about. This book made me burst with laughter. Lois Lowry wrote an exciting book which has funny things at every corner.

Listening At the Gate by Betsy James
Rating: 4 Stars
The third and probably last book in this series about a girl named Kat. As a ghost with a hand in each of the worlds, Kat struggles to find her identity in the one she loves, Nall. This is an epic story of love, trust, and finding one's identity in a sea of nothing, growing to realize, truly, what life is.
I loved this book.

This book blew me away! I could not put it down. The images and suspense were just riveting. I am not a fan of horror but just could not read this book fast enough. I see on the author's website that there will be at least two more in this series... hooray!!! They can't come out soon enough!

When the Wind Blows by James Patterson
Rating: 5 Stars
I read MAXIMUM RIDE and liked it; then I went to James Patterson's web site and saw that other readers assumed MAXIMUM RIDE was a sequel to WHEN THE WING BLOWS. Patterson says it isn't a sequel, and it's not. It is a different treatment of the same concept. Unscrupulous scientists are genetically engineering winged children --- who knows why --- and treating them brutally. I stayed up way too late last night because I could not put this book down.

Stupid White Men by Michael Moore

Chapatti or Chips by Nisha Minhas
Rating: 5 Stars
This book is realistic and full of humor, which makes it a fun book to read! I couldn't put it down. The main characters are David and Naina. David knows how to have fun but doesn't know how to love, due to his bad childhood. Naina is Indian and her parents have held up the tradition of arranged marriage, but she doesn't want to marry someone she met only twice, even if he turns out to be a nice guy. She wants to marry for love. Her friends, David's oozing friends, and the rest of characters make the book full of excitement! I'm so glad I got this book from my friend and hope others get to pick it up also!

The Templar Legacy by Steve Berry
Rating: 3 Stars
This is more of a mystery than an actual teen novel, but it might appeal to more advanced readers. In the genre that Berry is writing in, comparisons to THE DA VINCI CODE are inevitable. Indeed, Berry writes in the same style, but I just didn't feel that this was up to that level. Having read numerous books like Dan Brown's, I found this one lacking. The author has set up great characters, yet these characters --- especially Cotton Malone --- just do not live up to the author's words. Throughout the entire first half of the novel, I found myself screaming at him to check for a tracking device, especially after his enemies had somehow tracked him through 305 pages. Yet, he remained blissfully ignorant, even while being a top-notch governmental field agent. It was mistakes like these riddled throughout the novel that brought the rating down to three stars. It's a great genre and a fascinating topic, but this book flounders at the hands of a writer who is not quite up to the task.

My librarian at school gave me this book and I didn't think I would like it, since it looks like a book for boys. But, once I started reading, I couldn't stop. It is very exciting and I tried to figure out where it was going, but I couldn't. I especially liked the characters --- Nick was nice and Gus's friend Lalo was very funny. I would recommend this book to anyone looking for a fast book with a lot of action and characters you will really, really like. I gave it to my friends and they like it too. I am looking forward to the next book in the series.

TWILIGHT is one of the best books I've read since the 6th Harry Potter came out. I couldn't put it down for three days and blew off going out with friends because I was so into it. I can't wait until the sequel, NEW MOON, comes out, along with more installments of the series. The movie rights are being optioned and I really hope it is made into a movie. I'd recommend that anyone who loves a great romance filled with suspense to read this amazing book.

This is a book that not only every young girl, but every young boy, should read. It has such rich text and inspiring vocabulary. It's not only the great "boy meets girl" story, it shows life back in the 1800's and how people interacted back then.

Princess in Training by Meg Cabot

True Confessions of a Hollywood Starlet by Lola Douglas
Rating: 4 Stars
This is a great book about a former Hollywood star, Morgan Carter. Morgan is sent to live in Fort Wanye, Indiana with her "aunt" Trudy, where she is disguised as Claudia Miller after her drug-filled, party girl ways catch up with her. She struggles to fit in to an environment that is new to her, but makes some new friends along the way. I really liked this book, but I felt that it had a little too much focus on Morgan being a recovering addict. However, it is a great story about recovering, starting over, and dealing with the past.

This is a strange, strange book! It's a story about a young boy slave on a Georgia plantation in 1832 --- an especially brutal plantation. Sleeping Freshman Never Lie by David Lubar
Rating: 5 Stars
A surprisingly good book. It's very much like real highschool. This guy doesn't really want to join any clubs, but ends up in student council, the newspaper staff, the school play, etc., all because a girl he liked was in all these groups. The reality is that she was just visiting or quit, so he was stuck. It's quite comical.

This was an amazing book. Set in pseudo-present day England, NAUGHTS AND CROSSES flips the world of race upside down, putting blacks in power and whites as the second class citizens. In the middle is Callum and Zephy, best friends and maybe lovers who are drawn apart by the pressures of society.
