Warren
Flush by Carl Hiassen
Rating: 5 Stars
FLUSH is great because it has a lot of drama and suspense. You want to figure out how Noah (the main character) is going to solve his problems. There are also some domestic problems in the book, with his parents fighting a lot, which I'm sure many kids can relate to.

The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants Serie by Ann Brashares
Rating: 5 Stars
Man, I'm so sad the last book is out!! It's soo hangcliffer-like, but I'm not going to spoil it for everyone. I hope they make a 2nd movie. They probably won't --- after all, America Ferrara is doing "Ugly Betty." This is by far the best book, it's full of romance, friendship, suspense, and hilarious reality checks!

I Know I've Been Changed by ReShonda Tate Billingsley
Rating: 4 Stars
This book is great because it has a lot of drama (as if we need to read about other people's drama) and most of the time, a lot of people can relate to the the main character (Rae).

The It Girl by Cecily von Ziegsar

This book is so good because it is about 4 girls trying to keep their reputations strong at their private school. This series is wonderful because you can always expect something new to happen every time.

Dancing with Elvis by Lynda Stephenson
Rating: 3 Stars
DANCING WITH ELVIS is anything but ordinary. The book takes you back into the 1950s and 60s. Frankilee experinces jelousy and hatred for her newly kidnapped sister. Although, Frankilee is the only one who can see right through the perfect Angel and the unbelievable scam she has put Frankilee's family through. This entertaining and twisted story is anything but ordinary.

Battle Royale by Koushun Takami
Rating: 5 Stars
This book is AMAZING!! It's beautifully written and filled with graphic details that make you feel like you're actually in the book itself. It's about how a group of third- year Junior High Students are randomly chosen for the program --- a goverment experiment that studies human nature. The students are placed on an isolated island, supplied with a day pack and different weapons such as forks, guns, knives, nunchucks, and icepicks. Some students also get tools, such as bulletproof vests and radars. The students are forced to kill each other, and the last person standing is the winner. If no one dies within the first 24 hours, then all the students get blown up by the metal collars on their necks.

Michelle
The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho
Rating: 4 Stars
This is such an awesome book. It's not really a story with a real plot and everything, although there is a background to it. It's all about following your dreams, and the things that stop people from doing that. The main character meets all these people who are afraid to realize their Personal Legend, and it makes him see that he should continue towards his goal. This book is great, and totally inspiring if you're trying to figure out where you want to go or what you want to do.

The Healer's Keep by Victoria Hanley
Rating: 5 Stars
This book is fabulous, although I personally liked THE SEER AND THE SWORD more. All of this author's books are really good. A girl goes to healer's school and gets tricked by this charming guy. She makes friends with a guy who can walk into dreams and they go to another land and help the dreamwalker's sister defeat an evil brainwashing dude. It's cool, trust me.
Latasha
Reckless by Cecily Von Ziegesar
Rating: 3 Stars
It is the third book in the It Girl series, and although it is not serious reading, it is the perfect book to go in between some more serious novels. It will definitely give your brain a break, and besides, it's kind of fun to read about these snotty boarding school brats.
Carrie
Maximum Ride: The Angel Experiment by James Patterson
Rating: 5 Stars
This book changed my life, literally. It's a book about six kids who are different from you and me. No, not in the sense that they're smarter or funny looking. No, they have wings.
After living the first 10 years of her life in a cage, Max and her fellow flock members are bailed out by the only nice scientist in the sick lab called the School. Two years later, he disappears. Now forced to take care of five other kids on her own, Max isn't prepared when the youngest of the flock, Angel, is abducted one day. So now she and the other members of her flock are flying across the country to save Angel and find out about their past.
This book is wonderful --- it deals with the morals of life and has everything anyone could ask for: action, adventure, suspense, mystery and a little bit of romance. It's perfect for anyone and will have you rethink about your dream to fly.

If I Have a Wicked Stepmother, Where's My Prince? by Melissa Kantor
Rating: 5 Stars
This book rules! Mrs. Kantor is also the author of CONFESSIONS OF A NOT IT GIRL so you know her style is wonderful. This is your classic Cinderella story with a twist you'll love. Prom, princes, and panic go hand in hand with this wonderful novel that makes any girl sympathize with the main character's situation.

New Moon by Stephenie Meyer
Rating: 5 Stars
The sequel to TWILIGHT, NEW MOON is the best book, well, EVER. It appeals to all readers, with the thrilling vampire plot smothered in a little bit of romance and heartache. Its a book that I recommend to everyone, and will have you begging for more of Edward and Bella.
Jackie
The Outsiders by S. E. Hinton
Rating: 5 Stars
This book is gripping and true, especially since it was written by S.E. Hinton when she was a teen. Teens reading this book hear the voice of a fellow teen, they hear their own voice. The characters are real, the story moving, and I admit --- I almost cried at the end.
Brianna
Blood Red Horse by K. M. Grant
Rating: 4 Stars
A fantastic book that all circles around one blood red horse named Hosanna. This marvelous horse with the floating gallop makes the rounds to a number of people throughout the book, yet always managing to live through his awesome adventures.
Though a bit vivid with some of the battle scenes (it is during the Crusade) it's really a wonderful book. Join Gavin, Will, Ellie, Kamil and Hosanna in a book that takes you from England to the Holy Land and back again on a horseride you'll never forget.

Avalon High by Meg Cabot

Tam Lin by Pamela Dean
Rating: 4 Stars
A short synopsis: Janet Carter (of Carterhaugh) goes off to college and discovers friends, literature, magic, mystery, and politics.
This book is full of gorgeous language, with references to lots of great works of literature, and leaves you feeling as if you have experienced four fantastic years at a liberal arts college in the '70s.

Bless Me, Ultima by Rudolfo Anaya
Rating: 3 Stars
It's alright, but with so many other good books out there, I really wish I didn't have to spend so much time reading this. It's about this little Catholic kid who is starting to believe the local pagan beliefs or something... Anyhoo, it's good, but not something I'd read just for entertainment.

The Good Earth by Pearl S. Buck
Rating: 2 Stars
I have to read this for school and it's taking me forever. It's about a million pages long, very slow paced, and I don't even see the point of this story. Ever read a book and think, "Why, oh why, did this author even want to write this??"
It's not the lowest of the low (which is why it deserves 2 stars). In the past years, I have been more bored with books.
Brieana
The Geography Club by Brent Hartinger
Rating: 4 Stars
I absolutely loved this book. It's about a gay high school student named Russel who tries to start a club with some other gay people at school, but it's too risky to start a GSA (it would be damaging to their reputations, the local reverend might get involved, etc). So, they start a club that no one else would want to join, hence the title. Anyway, I read it in a day, and although I do love it, there are some things that I would change had I written it --- such as their being no adult characters. But, I recommend it.

I Never Promised You a Rose Garden by Hannah Green/Joanne Greenburg
Rating: 3 Stars
I won't criticize this too much because it's a classic. It was not nearly as entertaining as other books that I read regularly (figures... it was written in the 30s), however, learning about schizophrenia was fascinating (I thought that people were born crazy like that). It turns out that lots of people don't even know what that is (and sorry if I'm using too many parentheses, but I also know many people who don't know what a psychopath is even if they think they do). So props to this book for enlightening us who have the patience to finish it.

If I Should Die Before I Wake by Han Nolan
Rating: 5 Stars
This book is about the Holocaust. Well, sort of. It's about a girl named Hilary, living in the present, who is a neo-Nazi and hates Jews. She worships Hitler with a cult she joined, but gets into a terrible motorcycle accident with her 'boyfriend'. She then starts to have dreams that she is a Jewish girl named Chana and goes through her life around the 1930's and through the Holocaust. I won't spoil the surprise, though. You'll have to read it yourself. I love this book. It made Han Nolan my favorite author. Hope you like it!!! ; )

Alexandria
The King of Attolia by Megan Whalen Turner
Rating: 5 Stars
I absolutely love this book. It's the best out of all three published so far. It revisits familiar characters and creates some memorable new ones. It's one of those books in which the last sentence gives you chills, it's so great. I still have the last thing said in the book memorized.

Crown Duel by Sherwood Smith
Rating: 5 Stars
My favorite book --- I just re-read it for the fourth time. It's a wonderful blend of magic, action, romance, and humor. You can't help but fall in love with Mel. I love how spunky she is and what a fighter she is. She never gives up and she's so brave. Originally published as one book, it got split into two, titled CROWN DUEL and COURT DUEL, and was republished as one once again, called CROWN DUEL. There's also a really good short story at the end of the copy I have about what happens later on. I absolutely love this book; it remains one of my faves no matter how often I read it!

Snow by Tracy Lynn
Rating: 4 Stars
Not just a cheesy fairy tale! I bought this book on impulse and now am very happy I did. I expected the standard Snow White tale and what I got was anything but. It had more depth then I'd thought it would and there were several very nice twists. It was creative and different, but still kept some of the musts for any Snow White tale. Definitely worth taking the time to read!
Alexandria
Avalon High by Meg Cabot
Rating: 4 Stars
I really liked this book, even though I wasn't expecting much from it since Meg Cabot isn't one of my favorite authors. I love anything associated with King Arthur though, so I decided to give it a try....and discovered that I loved this book! It had some neat twists and the last paragraph gave me chills.

The Goose Girl by Shannon Hale
Rating: 5 Stars

Just Listen by Sarah Dessen
Rating: 5 Stars
This book is really good. The main character is lost after losing her friend because of a misunderstanding. She's having troubles at home with her sister and wants to stop the thing that joins her and her mother. She meets a guy that everyone else is afraid of, and he helps her gather the strength to stand up for herself and find out who she really is. It is a great story and I cried. The story is so truthful of many stories you hear everywhere. Sarah Dessen makes it come alive and you feel as if you are watching the character do everything that is described.

Another excellent addition to the series, though slightly less entertaining to myself. However, this one has a bit more romance and espionage, which are always pluses!

Private by Kate Brian
Rating: 4 Stars
At the moment, I am reading PRIVATE by Kate Brian (as well as THE BOLEYN INHERITANCE) and I have just finished TERRIER. They are all amazing books and quite different, having taken place in different time periods. PRIVATE reminds me a lot of the It-Girl books by Cecily von Ziegesar simply because of the whole private school, bitchy popular girl scenario. TERRIER was great, but I love every book by Tamora Pierce ( especially the Alana series) simply because it has to do with magic, murder, the beginnings of love and finding out where you belong and staying true to yourself.
CK
My Sister's Keeper by Jodi Picoult
Rating: 5 Stars
Great but really sad story. A girl who is always being used to save her sister from leukemia finally stands up and sues her parents for the rights to her own body, but what comes out at the end is more than anyone can imagine.
It has a surprising ending and is a great story that will make you cry and laugh. It was so real and so good, I just wish I could write a story this intriguing and this wonderful.

The Mediator Series by Meg Cabot
Rating: 5 Stars
I seriously LOVE these books. They're about this girl who can see and talk to ghosts, and she helps them figure out why they aren't in heaven, or whatever. There are 6 in the series, and my personal favorite is REUNION (#3). I don't really like stuff on science, or paranormal-ghostie stuff, but this was really good.

Jane and His Lordship's Legacy by Stephanie Barron

Rating: 4 Stars
This is the second book in the Farsala Trilogy, and I liked it much better than the first one. Now that Kavi, Soraya, and Jiaan have survived the Hrum invasion, each teenager must take steps towards ensuring that the Hrum will leave by their one-year deadline. But as more and more forces rise against them, can these three young teenagers hope for the return of Sorahb? Or will Farsala be under Hrum influence for good?

A Christmas Dozen by Steve Burt
Rating: 4 Stars

Things I Want My Daughters to Know by Alexandra Stoddard
Rating: 3 Stars

Princess Bubble by Susan Johnston, Kimberly Webb, and Maria Tonelli
Rating: 4 Stars
A cute "modern fairytale" picture book that is more applicable to teens than children (though they will enjoy it too). Princess Bubble is unsure of what to do with her life now that she has graduated college. Will she follow her mother's advice and get married, or will she listen to her own heart and find her true place in life? I especially loved the beautiful watercolor illustrations. This book was great!

Summer in the City by Elizabeth Chandler
Rating: 4 Stars
So far, it is really good. It is about a girl named Jamie who wants to have a summer of romance. She is very athletic and is used to having guy friends, but never any for romance. She lives with her dad in Michigan, who is a coach at her high school, but she is going to stay the summer in Baltimore with her mom, a romance novelist. She is planning to attend the University of Maryland in the fall on a basketball scholarship. She teaches at a camp at a local high school in Baltimore and meets a guy named Josh. But then she also meets her neighbor Andrew. She doesn't know which one to pick, but one thing is certain. She wanted a summer of romance, and I think Jamie is receiving her wish. So far today, I have read over 200 pages. It is so good! I can't put it down! I recommend this book for light reading, and for anyone who enjoys a good love story with many twists.

Paranoid Park by Blake Nelson
Rating: 3 Stars
Many of my friends have raved about this book, but I thought it could have been better. It is about a boy who is involved in a skatepark murder with no witnesses. Now, he must decide whether to tell the cops or keep it to himself and risk being caught. The premise was very interesting but there was a lot of swearing that really bugged me. Overall, this was a good idea, but it could have been carried out better.

Terrier: Beka Cooper, Book 1 by Tamora Pierce
Rating: 5 Stars
I love this author, though I don't think this book is my favorite. I wanted to read it so badly I nearly did a happy dance when I found out a classmate had it. This obsessed fan loved it, but I think you should probably at least read her first quartet, the Lioness series, to understand the story behind it. If you haven't read it, you just won't be able to understand the backstory, as well as if you had read about George Cooper. Beka is amazing though, and this book is different from Pierce's other books. It has more than one point of view, from Beka, to George's mother, to Beka's 200 years before; but the POV is still almost all Beka's.
