Kristina
The Empress's Tomb by Kirsten Miller
Rating: 4 Stars
This fast-paced story is a great read for a dreary day. Once you start reading it, you have to finish. But first, you have to read INTO THE SHADOW CITY to understand where this starts.

Jessica
Maximum Ride Series by James Patterson
Rating: 5 Stars
The Maximum Ride series by James Patterson is a must read. It's about average kids; only, they're not so average at all. These kids have wings. Yes, wings. And they can fly.

They grew up in a genetic research lab known as the "School, " where they were experimented on and their DNA was messed with, resulting in them having wings and other nonhuman powers.

I'm not one for science-fiction books or anything even remotely similar. I was suggested this book on a website and was so desperate for something to read that I went down to my local library and got the first book in the series --- MAXIMUM RIDE: THE ANGEL EXPERIMENT.

After a few chapters, I was hooked. I finished the three books in 3 days flat. (And I can't wait to get my hands on a copy of book 4!) Even if you're not into things like this, this series will grab your attention and hold on tight to it!

James Patterson writes in the perfect teenage perspective. With humor, drama, tons of action, and even a little romance, this book is an easy 5 out of 5. I would recommend reading this book to all teens. It doesn't matter what books your into you're sure to like this series.

Betwixt by Tara Bray Smith
Rating: 5 Stars
Well I actually just started reading it, but I love it so far. Of course, it's not my favorite book; in order for it to be that, it would have to better than OLD MAGIC, which --- to me --- is impossible.

Molly
The Hot Zone by Richard Preston
Rating: 3 Stars
This book is not for people who have a weak stomach. But if you are at all interested in a medical career, I would suggest checking it out

Maximum Ride: The Angel Experiment by James Patterson
Rating: 5 Stars
The best book ever. If you only ever read one book, read this one.

Severa
Daemon Hall by Andrew Nance
Rating: 5 Stars
Brilliant! This was a fantastic book! It's a lot like the "10 little indians" song from the old movie And Then There Were None, but scarier and more thrilling. I really loved it, I was scared for the characters and I could not possibly put it down once I began reading it! I ... I highly recommend it to horror, mystery and thrill seekers.

Sara
Super Fudge by Judy Blume
Rating: 4 Stars
Wow! What an awesome book! SUPER FUDGE is a really funny book, and there are more books with the little rascal, Fudge! I'm not sure what they're called but they're really cool looking.

Chicken Soup for the Teen Soul:The Real Deal by Multiple Authors

Bethany

Bethany
That Far Sweet Thing by Libba Bray
Rating: 4 Stars
This is the last installment of Gemma Doyle's supernatural adventures and is a long, but good read. It's a great book with a very surprising ending.

Dante
Saving the World and Other Extreme Sports by James Patterson
Rating: 5 Stars
Reading this book in about 5 hours straight, I recommend this series to every single one of my friends having trouble finding a good read. Each book in the series has won tons of awards, and I've also read every single comment from others on it, all of them being postitive. Without knowing it, you practically fall in love with the characters, whether it be the protagonist or antagonist. I've laughed out loud in the middle of class more than once when reading the first and second ones. The story line moves so quickly that you don't even need to skip the descriptions, which I often end up doing in thick books. When seeing the genre is fantasy, I hesitated. But I sure am glad I picked it up eventually.

Twilight by Stephenie Meyer

This book was totally gorgeous!

Hawksong by Amelia Atwater-Rhodes
Rating: 5 Stars
One of the best books ever! Absolutely great!

Kayla
Fell by David Clement-Davies
Rating: 4 Stars
This book has a mix of fantasy, history, and adventure, and the point of view ranges form humans to wolves. It's interesting to see the world through a wolf's point of view, and it's easy to get sucked in and start thinking through this wild animal's eyes. Though even with these ranges of characters, there is a concise point to the story, and an easy-to-follow plot.

Alexandra
TH1RTEEN R3ASONS by Jay Asher
Rating: 5 Stars
First of all, yes, I know I put numbers in the title. That's the way it goes. This book is beyond amazing. Its about a girl named Hannah who goes through so many little, bad experiences; they all build up and she ends up committing suicide. Right before she dies, she mails a set of 7 tapes (you know, the stuff that held music before CDs) with a story on each side of every tape. She uses 13 of the 14 sides, and says on the first tape that each side has a story of a person who somehow partially caused her death.
This book is so deep and eye-opening for people who fly through life without a care. It really shows you just how much the little rude, snippy comments you make to people can affect them more than you know.

Eclipse by Stephenie Meyer
Rating: 5 Stars
This book is not even a 5, it's wayy off the scale! This book was so gripping and so interesting, when my mom called me for dinner I refused to go!

Rating: 5 Stars
This book was great! I can't wait to read the next one. It's about a girl named Zoey who gets marked by a vampire. After that, her life changes.

Caitlin Hoy
Circus of the Damned by Katie Maxwell
Rating: 5 Stars
I love Katie Maxwell's book series, but I especially love this one. This is the second book in the series and is hilarious. The heroine is a Beloved of a vampire and has the power to find out the history of things and people by touching them. This book includes Viking Ghosts that think the heroine is a Goddess, a pissed-off god who steals her horse, and a pendant that causes the heroine a lot of trouble and mischief. It's a good thing the heroine has family and friends throughout the book or I don't think she would survive.

Allie
Two-Way Street by Lauren Barnholdt
Rating: 5 Stars
This book is excellent! It's more for teenagers because of language used. But for a teenager, perfect. I recomend it to all my friends. The story is about the romance you find in the least likely spot. It's a story of the cool guy and the not-so-cool girl and how they can not be without each, but with a strange twist. You will love it! Try reading it, you won't be disappointed.

Gripping and suspenseful, yet still realistic. It takes a devastating event --- Hurricane Hazel --- and makes it personal with realistic characters and incredible research.

Breakfast at Tiffany's by Truman Capote

This short story is magnificently written and I enjoyed it very much. The lighthearted story of Holly Golightly is definitely worth reading.

Serguel
The Alchemist by Micheal Scott
Rating: 4 Stars
It seems boring around the first page, but all of a sudden it just grabs your attention. I am a speed reader and I think this is going to be one of my top five favorite series.

Rating: 5 Stars
Wow! You never realize how much what you say/do affects those around you. Sure, if you are really mean to someone, you know it's wrong...but an accidental snub? Or just not saying the nice things you are thinking? THIRTEEN REASONS WHY sure makes you think!

This series is the best! The first book is MARKED.

Maia
Peeps by Scott Westerfield
Rating: 5 Stars
PEEPS, by Scott Westerfield, is a Sci-Fi novel set in modern-day New York. It's haunting and humorous, a true fiction story, but it tries in facts that you probably never knew existed! PEEPS, although it's fiction, really opened my eyes to how nature works. This book is truly a masterpiece. Yay! Go Mr. Westerfield!

Maia
Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Rings by J. R. R Tolkien
Rating: 5 Stars
This is the first installment of the hobbit Frodo's quest to destroy the Ring of Power in the fires of Mt. Doom. He sets off with his friends, Merry, Pippin, and Sam. They travel to Bree, where they meet Strider, the Ranger. He watches out for them and protects the Ring from the wraiths. The group travels to Rivendell, and meet Gandalf, the wizard. An Elf, a Human, and a Dwarf join their company as well, and they leave Rivendell to start the real quest.

While I was reading this book, I could feel the fear, joy, and turmoil the company had as if it were my own. This book is perfect for anyone who loves fantasy and adventure! This book is as magical as its tale!!! I loved it!

1984 by George Orwell
Rating: 4 Stars
This story takes place in a time where everything that you do is watched by telescreens and hidden mics. Big Brother watches everyone and if you do anything out of the ordinary or think thought that are prohibited, you could get taken from the Thought Police. Once someone has been captured by the Thought Police, they become erased from history and never existed. In the midst of this chaotic world, one man opens a diary, which is a crime, and takes a step to the future.

Alex
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows by J. K. Rowling
Rating: 5 Stars
This 7th book is her best yet! I read it the day it came out, and my 10-year-old brother finished it a week ago. HP7 is appropriate for all ages, but long. Just the way I like it!!!

Ceewin
The Book Thief by Markus Zusak
Rating: 5 Stars
This has to be the most well-written and original book I have read in a long time. I've never had a book told in third person where you actually knew who the narrator was. Although I would like to one day be able to see a movie based on this, I don't think it would be as good as the book. Certain stories are better told written than on the big screen.

Jess
The Fortunes of Indigo Skye by Deb Caletti
Rating: 5 Stars
Indigo Skye was such a fun character to read about. I love how the author wrote in a true teen voice and showed the up and down sides of coming in to a large sum of money all at once. Fast paced and very funny! "Be careful what you wish for" applies here.

Angie
Kitty Kitty by Michele Jaffe
Rating: 5 Stars
The hilarious sequel to BAD KITTY--- I was laughing my head off the whole way through.

Jessica
Scary Beautiful by Niki Burnham
Rating: 4 Stars
A fun romp that shows even beautiful girls can feel self-conscious. When Chloe's boyfriend moves across the country, she reevaluates her life choices. It's a powerful story about self awareness and development hidden in a light and fun story!

Sonya
The Color Purple by Alice Walker
Rating: 4 Stars
This book was so sad and definitely has teen/ adult content. It was the perfect book for my class's OBCB book reports and I recommend it for others.

The Book Muncher
I Wanna Be Your Joey Ramone by Stephanie Kuehnert
Rating: 5 Stars
Everyone needs to read this book when it gets published. That's all I need to say.

Emily
Lizzie Bright and the Buckminster Boy by Gary D. Schmidt
Rating: 4 Stars
This is one of the most heartwarming books I read in a while. I love how Turner (the main character) stood up for his friend, even when the whole town was against him.

Hailee
Bratfest at Tiffany's by Lisi Harrison
Rating: 5 Stars
Harrison has really outdone herself. This new Clique book is fun and unpredictable, and is a great upbeat read.

Jessica
Life as We Knew It by Susan Beth Pfeffer
Rating: 5 Stars
One of my new favorite books! Excellent! I wanted to run out and buy canned goods right then and there. It was scary to consider that something like this might actually happen (the moon getting knocked off kilter and completely ruining the Earth's climate, etc.) and we're not really prepared to deal with it. Even more powerful was the perspective of just one family struggling to survive. Would you sacrifice yourself for your family? Absolutely powerful!

Jessica
Maximum Ride: The Angel Experiment by James Patterson
Rating: 5 Stars
What a great start to a series! Max and her friends are totally believable as kids essentially with superpowers but without the superior attitude. A definite thrill ride that leaves you hankering for the next one (which I picked up the next day!). I can't wait to read the latest one!!

Skin Deep by E. M. Crane
Rating: 5 Stars
This was one of the most heartfelt, honest YA novels I've ever read. I recommend it to any reader.

Mary
Skin by Adrienne Vrettos
Rating: 5 Stars
An incredibly touching book that tells the tale of family being torn apart.

Rachel
Wicked by Gregory Maguire
Rating: 5 Stars
Simply amazing. While it took me a few chapters to get into it, I could not put it down. Even though those who have seen the Wizard of Oz know generally what happens, this takes the story of Elphaba to a new, incredible level. Never again will I watch The Wizard of Oz the same.

purplechick
The Bible by God
Rating: 5 Stars
It's a little hard to read, but everyone should read it even if its not needed for your religion. It contains love, action, and historical stories all in one.

Kyoko212
Right Behind You by Gail Giles
Rating: 5 Stars
I would probably have never read this book unless one of my favorite teachers, Mrs. Carla Youmans, didn't recommend it to me. This book, which seems kind of creepy for my taste, is AMAZING. Every time you feel frustration at yourself for doing something stupid, it cannot compare to the narrator in this book. It just makes you want him to succeed even more.

Ben
Feed by M. T. Anderson
Rating: 4 Stars
This was a really good SciFi/futuristic earth novel. In the not-so-distant future, everyone has a "Feed" that is hardwired into their brains. Basically a combination internet/tv/cell phone/shopping device, it's really dumbed down the entire population. The story is centered around a boy and his girlfriend and the evolution of their relationship as she is dying because her Feed is malfunctioning. So, the story is kind of dystopian with a "dangers of technology" and anti-consumerism bent, along with a "dying from a terminal illness" theme. Overall, a very thought-provoking book, well deserving of the National Book Award Finalist status it received.

Spring
The Absolutely True Diary Of a Part-Time Indian by Sherman Alexie
Rating: 5 Stars
I had to read this book for book club and when I heard we were reading this I said "Hey! I wanted to read that book!"

So when I started reading it loved it! Lots of people die, though....

Emily
Sense and Sensibility by Jane Austen
Rating: 5 Stars
I always thought Austen's books would be boring to read, but this is one of the most absorbing novels I've read in a long time. I see why her novels have lasted longer than most, becoming timeless classics.

Mary
Airman by Eoin Colfer
Rating: 5 Stars
In the style of classics like THE COUNT OF MONTE CRISTO, Eoin Colfer tells an adventure story filled with treason, betrayal and one boy's dream. I think this is Eoin Colfer's best book yet!

Mary
The Disreputable History of Frankie Landau-Banks by E. Lockhart
Rating: 5 Stars
A truly feminist book, this tale tells the story of a girl breaking the rules and showing that girls can do anything. Filled with pranks and super secret organizations, this novel will keep you laughing.

Sue
Hover Car Racer by Matthew Reilly
Rating: 5 Stars
Based in the future where hover cars have been invented, this book is fast paced as the main character --- a 14-year-old boy is determined to excel at racing, even though someone wants him out of the equation. Permanently.

I recommend this book to all those who enjoy books that race along and leave you electrified for like a week afterwards. I've read it 4 times now.Try it you, never know. I never liked sport books before this!

Aka
Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen
Rating: 4 Stars
Awesome book. I can easily understand *why* people say Austen "was ahead of her time."

Aly
The Adventures of Tom Sawyer by Mark Twain
Rating: 5 Stars
I read this book when I was a bit younger and now I picked it up in a more advanced version. So far, it fascinated me --- just all the things and adventures he has. It's so much fun.

Mary
Prey by Lurlene McDaniel
Rating: 3 Stars
PREY is the tale of teacher-student relationship. The whole story has a rather creepy atmosphere to it. Nevertheless, it was still an okay read.

Mary
Austenland by Shannon Hale
Rating: 4 Stars
Janes Hayes is an obsessive Mr. Darcy fan. So much so that it's ruining her life. She's 33 and single.

So when she's offered the chance to live in recreated version of PRIDE AND PREJUDICE, she reluctantly takes it.

A good read especially for those Jane Austen fans!

Renee
Mistborn by Brandon Sanderson
Rating: 5 Stars
This book was absolutely stunning. Everything from the fabulous artwork on the front cover, to the beautifully crafted world, culture, and characters, to the mind-boggling ending was remarkable. Another great book by Sanderson!

Anais S.
The Thirteenth Tale by Diane Setterfield
Rating: 4 Stars
This book tells the intereresting story of author Vida Winter's childhood. It's kind of like a throwback to JANE EYRE, and is very good.

Hannah
Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman
Rating: 4 Stars
I really enjoyed NEVERWHERE. I would have liked to have maybe a little more character substance, but it was an hysterical and yet oddly heart-wrenching book. I would definitely recommend it.

Kira=)
The Percy Jackson and the Olympians series by Rick Riordan
Rating: 5 Stars
These books are nothing short of amazing!! I absolutely love them! The characters and the plot are both so great. It's impossible to put the books down. Rating: 5 Stars
This book takes place in India and a teenage Indian girl, Jeeta, narrates. She lives her life more independently than her mother would like. Cross my Heart and Hope to Spy by Ally Carter
Rating: 4 Stars
This is the sequel to I'D TELL YOU I LOVE YOU, BUT THEN I'D HAVE TO KILL YOU, and it follows Cammie Morgan and her friends' adventures at their cool spy-training boarding school. A really good follow up to the 1st book!

BrianaBird
The Curious Incident of a Dog in the Night-Time by Mark Haddon
Rating: 4 Stars
I really enjoyed this book, it was very easy to read, but difficult to comprehend at the same time. The different type of thinking and logic that Christopher's autism makes throws me off, but it was interesting to see how they think and in my eyes, human. I've been quite blind to the world of autism and other behavioral disorders, and now am quite interested in how an autistic person's brain works. I really enjoyed this book.

Diane
This is What I Did by Dee Ann Ellis
Rating: 4 Stars
Loved this book --- it kept me guessing about what had happened to Logan's friend right up until the revelation. Breaking free from a bully is not easy work.

Sofia
City of Bones by Cassandra Clare
Rating: 5 Stars
A young girl begins to see demons and other strange things. Soon enough, her mother is taken by a demon, and that is were this exciting story begins. This is the tale of Clary Fray and the many adventures she goes through to find her mother and to solve the mystery of her past. This book is a brilliantly written fantasy that you will not want to put down.

Aly
To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee
Rating: 5 Stars
I had to read this for school, and it was one of the first times that I just couldn't put a book down. It was so great; with all the details, descriptions, characters, and the storyline, it exceeded my expectations and is most definitely worth a read.

Brian H.
The Book Thief by Markus Zusak
Rating: 5 Stars
Everyone will probably think that because this book takes place during World War II, it will be about how bad the Germans were and how wonderful the Allies were. But its not; it's about how wholesome and kind our human heart is. You'll love this book.

Taylor
Boy Meets Boy by David Lavithian
Rating: 5 Stars

Victoria
Thieves Till We Die by Stephen Cole

The second book of Cole's series is even better than the first. This book is an exciting adventure filled with suspense, myth, mystery, amazing thinking and a lot of humor. This is one of my favorite books!

Mary
Something Wicked This Way Comes by Ray Bradbury
Rating: 3 Stars
Creepy, yet hard to put down. It really made me think about carnivals.

Darcie W.
Before I Go by Riley Weston
Rating: 5 Stars
This particular novel touched my heart the way no other book ever has or probably ever will. A girl with only one friend, but the best friend of all, is tested to see how strong she really is. We know she's determined and skillful, but can she handle what's been thrown at her at full force? Sometimes lifelong friends will eventually turn into something more! I recommend this book to anyone and everyone! I would read this again and again if I could!

Darcie W.
Twilight by Stephenie Meyer

Dairy Queen by Catherine Murdock

I don't really read books like this, I like fantasy. But this book just pulled me in. I read it in a day and even stayed up til 1 on a school night to finish it. The book itself is about a Wisconsin farm girl who spends a summer training the quarterback from her rival high school. The main character is funny, sweet, unique, and utterly lovable!

It's a long book and is kind of a slow read, but the storyline is pure magic. It's compelling and unpredictable up to the very last chapter. Excellent plot.

All I can say is that this book is really good and it is a must read. It's one of the greatest historical fiction books I have ever read :)
