Thirteen Days by Robert F. Kennedy
Rating: 5 Stars
For a research paper in history on the Cuban Missile Crisis, I read Robert F. Kennedy's memoir on the two weeks in October, 1962 that could almost have caused a nuclear war. Because he was part of the 14-person group called ExComm, which included his brother, President John F. Kennedy, the memoir is a first-hand look at what really happened in the White House during that time. While it is a short book, it accurately depicts the extensive decision making that ExComm did in order to prevent any nuclear fallout. Luckily, they chose the right solution to blockade the island of Cuba, which had Soviet warheads stationed on it, and tell Premier Khrushchev to remove the nukes in exchange for the US removing their warheads stationed in Turkey. I highly recommend this to any history student assigned something on the Cold War, as it is a very interesting topic and quite an enjoyable read.

This series was very interesting to me. It is very different to read a book that is from a cat's perspective. I would recommend this series to anyone who enjoys to read.

1984 by George Orwell
Rating: 3 Stars
I'm just starting the book. but, so far, its pretty good. The book's a classic and its about this community living under their dictator, the Big Brother. Then, someone starts to wonder about the real life and all that. And, if you've heard of the tv show "Big Brother", where they lock up these people in the house and someone's always watching them and bossing them around, they got that idea from this book. It's really good.

I thought that SPECIALS was the best book out of the Uglies series. Scott really got into the description of how overcoming and different it was for Tally to become special and what it felt like to her. There were also a lot of suspenseful moments and parts that completely caught me off guard. It was extremely fascinating to me and I got through the book very quickly.

This series was absolutely amazing to me. Darren really takes you into of the world of the darkness and what secrets lurk in it. I love this book. It is a fiction romance, yet it's appropriate for teens. I told everyone about it.i've had it for 2 weeks and read it 3 times. The main guy named Kenton is a dream come true. You really should read the first, it's awesome too. It's called DAUGHTER OF LIBERTY. It takes place during the Revolutionary War. Elizabeth is a patriot spy. Then Jonathan Carleton, a British soldier, comes along and they both fall madly in love with each other. Will she chose between her honor or her love?

I haven't finished THE HOST yet, I have about 75 pages left of the 617. I just have to say it is an amazing book; very interesting. It keeps you guessing and wondering. I really don't know how each outcome will be. When people give you a glimpse of it, it sounds really weird but it's really not. And when you read it for yourself, it's less confusing. It's so good and interesting. If people put certain expectations on it because it is by Stephenie Meyer, then they will be disappointed because they'll just be thinking about the Twilight series. But when you forget about Twilight and realize that it's a completely separate book from the series, then will you love it. It is amazing!

This is the story of two boys who set out on a cross-country bike ride the summer before college. Near the end of their journey, they split up, and the narrator, Chris, heads home and goes to college. It's only when the FBI shows up that he realizes that Win, his (former) best friend, didn't do the same. The chapters alternate between Chris's quest to solve the mystery of Win's disappearance and the bike ride leading up to it. I'm not always a huge fan of mysteries, but I couldn't stop reading this book. The characters are real, the writing style is fabulous, and I couldn't wait to read the next chapter. It took me one day to read this book. I absolutely recommend it.

The Boy in the Striped Pajamas by John Boyne
Rating: 4 Stars
John Boyne did an excellent job of writing this story. THE BOY IN THE STRIPED PAJAMAS was one of the most original, thought-provoking, and heartfelt books if I have ever read one. Boyne never really seemed to come right out and state exactly what was happening, and I liked that. He gave you the information needed for you to figure things out on your own, and that was it. When reading this book, it helps if you know a little background history on the Holocaust. The main character, Bruno, had all the characteristics and mentality that I would have expected of a nine-year-old boy from that time period. I fully believe that everyone should read this book.

New Moon by Stephenie Meyer

I had read over 100 pgs before I finally got into this one. However, I think I ended up liking it more than TWILIGHT in the end. One reason it took me a while to get into was because Bella's whining and depression was really getting on my nerves. It got better after she and Jacob really started hanging out. However, I'm not very crazy about Stephenie Meyer's writing style. It is poor and lacks good technique, in my opinion. Plus, some of her characters annoy me. The main ones, for that matter. Bella and Edward just don't have much personality and there isn't any real legitimate or logical reason for their love. Bella is just too obsessed with Edward. On the plus side, Jacob saved the story. At least he has some personality. There was also nearly always something going on that held my attention. Still not to sure why I like these books, though. I guess you could say Stephenie Meyer is junk food for the brain. Not good for you, but fun just the same. Every now and then, you don't want to eat your vegetables, but instead grab a bag of chips.

This was an amazing follow up sequel (2nd) to The Luxe series by Anna Godbersen! It told the tale of Elizabeth's fate as well as Penelope and Diana's choices, and the sneaky maid of Elizabeth's who is on her own! Still with a lot of drama, and gossip, it's just great!

The Luxe by Anna Godbersen

This book is well written for characters from the past, facing drama, gossip, and many other problems. Characters like Elizabeth face issue's like back-stabbing friends, and mothers who chose your husband behind your back! All things take a twist for the worst, when Elizabeth makes a choice, or does she? Great book!

The Skin I'm In by Sharon Flake

This was a great book! It showed the difficulties the African American society/community would face. Being smart, wearing hand-made clothes, and being one of the darkest students in the school is one way you wouldn't fit in, and is what the character in this book faces! But, when a new teacher comes along, the balance of school's rude behavior, and constant teasing and fights might all be shook up for good! Great book!

The Adoration of Jenna Fox by Mary E. Pearson
Rating: 5 Stars
I loved this book! It was the strangest book I've ever read! Jenna wakes up from a long coma, to find herself not remembering anything about herself or her friends/family. This book takes place in the future so they have a lot of technology. Anyway, Jenna slowly gets her memory back but remembers more of her life at a younger age then a normal person would! Like her baptism, for example. Slowly, she realizes that she is not human! So as you can see, the story just gets better and better, with of course a classical sad twist! So you should read this book!

This book is great! It demonstrates how things aren't impossible, and although you may seem like you can't fit in anywhere, you will always have a place if you stay true to your friends.

This book was very nice for people who love greek mythology. The author does a fabulous job depicting Helen of Troy.
