Enter To Win!This contest period's winner received a copy of TWENTY BOY SUMMER by Sarah Ockler.

Lindsay
The Demon's Lexicon by Sarah Rees Brennan
Rating: 4 Stars
It was a good book that was hard to put down. I would never expect what was going to happen next. A very good book.

Haley
Shug by Jenny Han
Rating: 5 Stars
It's a very good story of a girl who has spent all her life with her very best friend and in just one moment, she falls in love with him. So she keeps thinking of ways to get him to notice her, but the sad thing is that what she wanted in the beginning doesn't turn out the way she wanted it to, but she does find love in the end.

Rosie
City of Glass by Cassandra Clare
Rating: 5 Stars
There are so many twists and turns in this book that, even though a few of them are completely predictable, the next one can totally throw you off. And the ending, of course, is stunning.

Rosie
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows by J. K. Rowling
Rating: 4 Stars
I'm rereading this book after watching HP6, and I definitely agree with my previous decision that it was the best of the seven. With an epic final battle, lots of character development, and loads of new characters, it's easily the most exciting.

Banjopup
My Sister's Keeper by Jodi Picoult
Rating: 4 Stars
I just started it but it seems really good and all my friends have said its worth reading.

Mallory
The Book Thief by Markus Zusak
Rating: 4 Stars
This book is really good. I found it hard to put the book down. The characters are amazing.

Christina
Evermore by Alyson Noel
Rating: 5 Stars
I loved Alyson's book. It's a really cool book about a girl named Ever who is an orphan, an outsider at her school, and can see and hear what people are thinking. She thinks her life is perfect, until she meets Damen. He seems to be interested in her and knows a lot about her past....

Jessica
I Love You, Beth Cooper by Larry Doyle
Rating: 4 Stars
Tells the story of the debate team captain and valedictorian (Denis Cooverman) who confesses his love for the school's popular and beautiful cheerleader (Beth Cooper) in a speech in front of his graduating class. Beth, entertained by this brave act, takes Denis on a whirlwind of adventures that, safe to say, change his life all within one night. At first, I did not like the tone of the author (it was as if he was trying to hard to use "hip" language), but eventually fell in love with the book. It made me laugh until my stomach hurt and I fell in love with Denis's best friend, Richard. Warning: parts of the book are fairly inappropriate. Currently being made into a movie.

Amante
Storm Born by Richelle Mead
Rating: 5 Stars
This book is laugh-out-loud funny from beginning to end. The author hasn't failed me yet.

Sarah
Perfect Chemistry by Simone Elkeles
Rating: 5 Stars
This book is about a girl --- who lives on the north side of town, is rich and seems to be perfect --- and a boy, who lives in the south side of town and is in a gang. It tells the story of what happens when these to different teenagers become chemistry partners.
I love this book. I never wanted to put it down.

Rosie
Bloodhound by Tamora Pierce
Rating: 3 Stars
I definitely preferred the prequel, TERRIER, but this book was interesting enough on its own. Of course, it was a little predictable, and seems to be traveling down the same road as, well, a combination of several of Pierce's previous series.

Rosie
Lord of the Flies by William Golding
Rating: 4 Stars
This book was an interesting study on how what is considered even the most advanced of societies can devolve in --- for example --- a matter of days or weeks without some form of structure. The traits and characteristics that lead to their downfall are some that I could recognize in myself; however, I couldn't connect to any of the characters well.

Rosie
War and Peace by Leo Tolstoy
Rating: 5 Stars
This book is a very, very engaging read; it takes a lot of thought, and it's difficult to remember exactly who is whom, what they do, and how they are related to everyone else, since there is what seems to be an unlimited multitude of characters, but the relationships are very engaging.

Rosie
Zoya by Danielle Steel
Rating: 3 Stars
Personally, I don't feel that Steel is a good writer. She creates engaging characters and situations, and she's amazing at descriptions, but I don't feel that she's the best of writers, as far as strictly writing goes. However, I love this book because of the amazing character, Zoya, and her shop, Countess Zoya. Its an amazing story, even if I only like the second half of it.

Hyunjee Lee
Beach Blondes by Katherine Applegate
Rating: 5 Stars
This summer novel was a real page turner and kept me going all day and night. The thick book was a bit intimidating at first, but it turned out to be worth the 721 sheets of paper it took up. I highly recommend this book of romance, mystery, and emotion to teenage girls. It was well worth my time and I'm very excited to read the sequel, TAN LINES.

OJ
Blue Moon by Alyson Noel
Rating: 4 Stars
I kind of liked this book. It was ok, but I got mad at one of the characters because he was being mean, but I was so sad about the way it ended.

Ava
The Twilight Series by Stephenie Meyer
Rating: 5 Stars
The Twilight series is the best! You can read it over and over again without getting bored.

Ava
Tenderness by Robert Cormier

Rating: 5 Stars
A great book for anyone who likes James Bond, the main character is a teenage 007.

~Nessa~
Scary Beautiful by Niki Burnham
Rating: 3 Stars
Pretty good plot, but the story doesn't get into a lot of detail; it's kind of a shallow story.

Hanna
Wake by Lisa McMann
Rating: 5 Stars
Wonderful book! Loved it!

~Nessa~
King of the Screwups by K. L. Going
Rating: 3 Stars
It's an ok novel about a boy who is trying to set his life straight after his father kicked him out of his home and he moved in with his cross-dressing uncle. It's one of the better stories that I've read about self-realization so late in a person's life.

Saraj
Into the Garden by V. C. Andrews
Rating: 5 Stars
Best V.C. Andrews book my aunt let me borrow. It's from the series called Wild Flowers. It's about four different girls from four very different harsh living styles, that come together after hearing each other's different story.

Ashly
Megan Meade's Guide to the McGowan Boys by Kate Brian
Rating: 5 Stars
MEGAN MEADE'S GUIDE TO THE MCGOWAN BOYS is a must read for anyone who enjoys a laugh-out-loud book. If you've ever wondered what it was like to live in a household full of boys, then this is the book for you. It's definitely one of those books that once you read the first few pages you won't be able to put it down. One of the best romance-comedy novels there are for teens, without a doubt.

Susie
My Sister's Keeper by Jodi Picoult
Rating: 5 Stars
One of her best! I love all her books! The movie was awesome too!

~Nessa~

Madison
Kissed By An Angel by Elizabeth Chandler
Rating: 5 Stars
"A love beyond life. . .a danger beyond doubt." Ivy's boyfriend Tristan dies in a car accident, then she can feel his presence around her.

Clairevoent
Black Boy by Richard Wright
Rating: 5 Stars
It's an eye-opening book about race in the South during the 1920s. The book is really interesting, I can barely put it down.

Katie
Poseur by Rachel Maude
Rating: 4 Stars
It was an interesting book about four girls who are completely different, yet the same, because they are all struggling with at least one thing in their lives. It was a story that I would read again because it deals with peer pressure, fashion, friendships, and of course boys, boys, and more boys.

amblaser94
Chosen by P. C. and Kristin Cast
Rating: 5 Stars
I thought that this book was just as great as the first. There were enough turns that what came next was unpredictable, but not so much that I was confused. Can't wait to read the next one!

Lindsay
Wicked: Resurrection by Nancy Holder and Debbie Viguie
Rating: 5 Stars
It was a great way to finish the Wicked series. This series is in my top 5 favorite books and I greatly recommend that you read this book. I loved it.

Rihana
Wicked Lovely by Melissa Marr
Rating: 5 Stars
Amazing! I love this book, and I absolutely cannot wait to read the sequels!

Rihana
Evernight by Claudia Gray
Rating: 5 Stars
It's a love story with a twist! Rather than having the vampire fall in love with a human --- like we've heard before --- the main character/vampire falls for...dun-dun-dun... a vampire hunter. Yes. It's unusual. But Claudia Gray makes it a masterpiece in her book, EVERNIGHT!

Tegan
One Hundred Years of Solitude by Gabriel Garcia Marquez
Rating: 4 Stars
The Nobel award winning novel ONE HUNDRED YEARS OF SOLITUDE allows the reader to travel to the fictitious town of Macondo as seen through the eyes of the founding Buendia family.

Kaycee Joy

Rating: 4 Stars
This is a great book about how the honesty of another person can affect someone's life.

Stephanie
The Freedom Writers Diary by The Freedom Writers
Rating: 4 Stars
Just to say, it is probably one of the best books i have read this year. It tells a wonderful story on how real people are trying to surpass racism and stereotypes and look at who the person as an individual. It only tacks one person to help make a difference.

pixiPassion
Audrey, Wait! by Robin Benway
Rating: 4 Stars
A really good book... its really funny... it's about this girl, Audrey, who dumped her musician boyfriend, Evan. and as some kind of revenge, or something, he wrote this song about her. The song was really good and it became #1 in the billboards. She became all popular because of the song and all that...
I don't want to say more because I feel like I'm saying too much bout the book.

It was a really good book. The story's about this small town in California and how adults and anyone over the age of 15 just disappeared. Poof. They were gone, without a warning. Middle-schoolers, teens and toddlers were the only ones left behind. Then some kids start to mutate and have special powers and all that. It's really good.

Amanda
Strange Angels by Lili St. Crow
Rating: 5 Stars
I love books on the supernatural and this one is the best book I have read yet. The main character Dru is a 16 year old who has "a sixth sense". The sense helps her to hunt wulfen, ghosts and suckers, Graves is Goth all the way and falls really hard for Dru. What could be the love of her life is stopped short when Graves is bit by a werewolf. Although he does not turn into one he has the ability to at any moment which means Dru has to keep away. I really liked Graves so this part was hard but believe me it does end up okay. Dru's father is turned into a zombie and Dru must kill him which is hard for her to do but she knows she must. You will also meet her grandmother who comes to her in the form of an owl and helps guide Dru in her journey. I do not want to give anything away but this book will keep you on the edge of your seat and is a great summer read!

This book was a little bit confusing at times, but it was an excellent book. The day I finished the book (today) I went and picked up the next book in the series, because I could not wait to read it. I would definitely recommend this book if you loved TWILIGHT or anything to do with supernatural powers.

Rating: 3 Stars
This is an almost diary like novel that follows the adventures of a vampire/vampire slayer on a quest to find an antidote for the werewolf turning cheerleaders of her school.

Kathleen
Paper Towns by John Green
Rating: 4 Stars
In his latest, John Green continues along with his favorite theme, 'boy wants unattainable girl' (see also: LOOKING FOR ALASKA and ABUNDANCE OF CATHERINES) only this time the girl has disappeared. He has only her clues to go on to find her (if she even wants to be found). A really good, intriguing read with realistic characters.

Ema
Young Warriors by Tamora Pierce and Josepha Sherman
Rating: 3 Stars
A book of many short stories about young warriors. Some of the stories bored me, honestly, but others were quite entertaining.

That Summer by Sarah Dessen

Haven is a great down to earth character that is basically the typical girl: helpful, understanding, curious, mature, and sometimes a bit naive.
A great book about the ups and downs in real life.

Aly
The Constant Princess by Philipa Gregory

This book is beautifully crafted. It has kept me reading constantly feeling all the emotions of the characters. It is a must read. It tells of the life of Queen Katherine and her rise to the throne involving pain and hardships but not forgetting love and happiness.

Ophelia by Lisa Klein

If you're a fan of Shakespeare, you'll love this book. It takes place in the play "Hamlet" and tells the story through Ophelia's point of view. There's a shocking twist and a great ending that will leave you wanting more.

Along for the Ride by Sarah Dessen
Rating: 4 Stars
While ALONG FOR THE RIDE was one of the best books I've ever read, it wasn't the best of Sarah Dessen's books. Her writing was still as amazing as ever, but the book just wasn't as catching as, say, THE TRUTH ABOUT FOREVER or LOCK AND KEY. The characters were very interesting, but I think I would have liked to hear more about Eli's brother. The beginning of the book got me interested about him. The situation with Auden's dad could have been a little less easily resolved.... And the situation with Eli at the end, how she just said one thing and he was okay with her again, didn't make much sense. All in all it was a good book. Excellent, really. I read it in one day, because Sarah Dessen's writing just pulls me in like that. But if I were choosing ONE book from the list of books that she wrote, I don't think I'd pick this one.

Nessa
Almost Famous by Zoey Dean
Rating: 5 Stars
This is a really cool book that's down to earth. It's not completely realistic, but doesn't have the fake theme of 'you can have whatever you wish with just a spell'. Zoey Dean is probably the best realistic fiction author that I've come across.

Nessa
Revelations by Melissa De La Cruz

THE SCORCERESS is the third book in the Immortal Nicholas Flamel Series. It chronicles the adventures of Sophie and Josh Newman as they follow Nicholas and his wife Perenelle. All in all, this is one of my favorite books and I am totally glad I got to read it this summer!

The Other Boleyn Girl by Phillipa Gregory
Rating: 5 Stars
I was hooked from the first page and just started reading it faster the farther I got in it - there was never a dull moment. It was very long, and yet i wished it could have been even longer! The movie was very good too; if you liked the movie, you'll love the book.

It is a very interesting story with a plot line full of twists and turns.

Ibis Perez
Life As We Knew It by Susan Beth Pfeffer
Rating: 3 Stars
This book has been a real wake-up call. Today global warming is becoming a MAJOR problem, but we don't really know how we could be affected. In this book, the moon is placed out of its orbit and catastrophic changes are happening all through the Earth. The girl has to eat canned food, and dessert is even dried fruit on one occasion. I've learned to appreciate the smallest things that I have, for example air conditioning, and taking showers every day.

Kaleigh
Prey by Rachel Vincent

The Return: Nightfall by L.J. Smith
Rating: 4 Stars
This is the third installment of the Vampire Diaries series, which is amazing! This one is my least favorite so far because it is becoming a little far fetched. But the original characters are still there, and that makes it worth while!

Mona
Carpe Corpus by Rachel Caine
Rating: 5 Stars
Rachel Caine has done it again. She has brought Claire, Shane, Micheal and Eve back in a thrilling ride amongst the Morganville vampires. The vampires and humans are at war in this one and trust is the key to staying alive. Who knew that getting out of town by the bus load could be so frightening! This book is a quick summer read and readers will find themselves taking pity on both sides of the fight, fang or teeth. I can't wait until the seventh book in the series, FADE OUT, is released in November of 2009.

Evernight by Claudia Gray
Rating: 5 Stars
It was such a captivating novel with romance between two young academy students. First you think that the young male is the vampire but it turns out that his lover is. Lucas and Bianca go through an entire school year with lies and betrayal but are still madly in love with each other. For vampire readers, this is a great novel that I can assure you that you would not want to put it down. I can not wait to read STARGAZER.

Lock and Key by Sarah Dessen
Rating: 4 Stars
This novel is one of my favorites by Dessen. I have all but two, not including ALONG FOR THE RIDE, of her books. In this novel a young teenager realizes the true work of helping yourself before you can help others. This novel gives you different definitions of what the term family means. Family and helping one another out is what this book sticks into your mind. Whoever reads this will not be able to wait for Dessen's newest book.

I would never believe what the end tells you. It was hard for me to put this book down. School shootings are more common than people think and this gives some people the insight on how people react to being bullied. She is a great author and I would like to read more of her books.

Skin by Adrienne Maria Vrettos
Rating: 5 Stars
SKIN by Adrienne Maria Vrettos, is a heart-wrenching, tragic tale about a young girl "dying to be thin" (fighting anorexia) and her brother. Their parents are always fighting, and Karen, the anorexic, is always lippy to her family, but you can see how strong all their love is. The story is actually told by Donnie, the brother, as he deals with all these issues along with his persistent fevers and ear infections. It is so sad, so real. I would recommend it to anyone.

Melting Stones by Tamora Pierce

Rating: 5 Stars
This book is about a boy and a girl who have had pretty horrible lives, and they go on a road trip across the country as the boy tries to prove to the girl that the world is, indeed, beautiful.

Pretty Little Liars by Sara Shepard
Rating: 5 Stars
PRETTY LITTLE LIARS is the first book in the Pretty Little Liars series. It is a great read about four girls, Hannah, Spencer, Aria, Emily. They're best friend Ali mysteriously disappears in the summer between seventh and eighth grade. When the girls, now in high school, begin to get mysterious text messages signed "A", they suspect Ali is back. The messages contain all the secrets they tried to hide. Is Ali reallyback? Or does some else know their secrets?

The only thing I didn't like about this series was that the author had the characters complain on occasion for a couple paragraphs, and it got annoying. But that doesn't happen too often.

I love this series because of all the twists and turns that you would never expect.
I recommend this series to anyone who enjoys a thrilling mystery tied with the everyday exciting and surprising lives of four Rosewood girls. A fantastic read!
