Heads Up! Teen Read Week is October 16th thru the 22nd.
|
|
Hey, teens: don't forget to celebrate Teen Read Week on October 16-22, 2005! Teenreads.com is one of the sponsors of this event so we want you to join us in getting the word out about Teen Read Week to your friends, teachers and librarians. The event officially begins on Sunday, October 16th, but you can go here and vote starting on Friday, October 14th.
Thousands of teens across the country are gearing up to make time to read for the fun of it. This year's theme is "Get Real! @ your library" and the focus is on great nonfiction reads, such as biographies, strange but true stories, how-to books, magazines and much more.
During Teen Read Week you can also:
- Vote for your favorite new books as part of the Teens' Top Ten List
- Help choose next year's theme by voting online
- Check out the events in your community. Visit your local school or public library to find out what they have planned.
If they don't know about Teen Read Week, help them log on to here.
For more information about Teen Read Week, or to vote for your favorite books or next year's theme, log on to www.ala.org/teenread. Voting begins October 14th.
Teen Read Week is an opportunity for teens across the country to vote for their favorite books. It's a great chance to make your voice heard --- to say what YOU like to read --- and to advocate reading in your community.

Voting and The Nominees --- The Teens' Top Ten
|
|
Nominators are members of teen book groups in five school and public libraries around the country selected for their experience in discussing books. (Nominating groups change every two years.) Click here to see the nominees for the Teens' Top Ten. If you read nominated books throughout the year, you'll be ready to vote for your favorites during Teen Read Week. Readers aged twelve to eighteen can vote right here, anytime this week. Encourage your friends to join you in reading and voting. The more teens who participate, the more accurately the winning list will reflect the reading tastes of teens all over the country. Being part of Teens' Top Ten Books can be an individual or a group project. Tell your book group, youth organization, and other teen gatherings about Teens' Top Ten. Reading and voting for Teens' Top Ten is fun, free, and easy. Click here to register.
