Holly faces the summer before her senior year of high school with her two best friends by her side. They've been friends forever, helping each other through life's challenges, such as when Kathleen's mother relapsed with MS and when Raina discovered she had a grown-up sister who needed a bone marrow transplant. Together they even joined the Pink Angels, a volunteer program at the hospital, and planned to be roommates at the same college the following year.
The only thing Holly would wish for is a boyfriend of her own. That possibility sparks a chance when a stranger, who calls himself Shy Boy, starts sending her emails. But is he for real, and why won't he agree to meet with her face to face?
Then Holly's friends tell her they've changed their minds about attending college together. Kathleen must stay closer to home to save money, and Raina decides to go to the same school as her boyfriend, Hunter, who also happens to be Holly's brother. Devastated, Holly avoids her friends for weeks, wishing things would remain the same and for the three of them to stay together forever.
But then tragedy blows up in their lives, pushing all three to the edge. Holly's faith in God is ripped out from under her, and she struggles to understand. Life will never be the same, and the three teenagers fall back on their friendship to help them survive.
This third book in the Angels in Pink trilogy will tug at your heart as it delves into the question of faith that everyone faces at some point in his or her life. With realistic characters and real-life situations, readers will connect with this story just as the author, Lurlene McDaniel, intended. Though HOLLY'S STORY is the third in a series, it can stand alone, not requiring the first two books in order to understand or enjoy.
