One of Sierra Jensen’s biggest wishes is finally coming true. In DON'T YOU WISH, the third book in Robin Jones Gunn’s Sierra Jensen series, Sierra is traveling to Southern California to visit the friends she made on her missions trip to Europe. Unfortunately, in a moment of desperation and compassion, she also invites her older sister Tawni, which appears to be a bigger mistake with each passing moment.

Tawni and Sierra have never gotten along, and the trip only serves to further strain their already fragile relationship. Sierra is thrilled to see old friends Christy and Todd, but less than thrilled when her sister sets her sights on the very taken Todd. Sierra also had another item on the agenda for the week: getting her mind off of the elusive and thought-consuming Paul, preferably by meeting another guy. This certainly doesn’t go as planned either, as Sierra seems to quickly become the only one of her friends without a date. At the same time, she can’t help but think of Randy back home, whose mixed signals are becoming even harder to interpret.

Sierra begins to feel pangs of jealousy as beautiful, put-together Tawni immediately fits into the glamorous California society that Christy’s aunt and uncle are a part of. She even considers a modeling career, not to mention that sharing her closest friends was not exactly on Sierra’s agenda for the week. As Tawni deepens her relationship with Californian Jeremy, it is revealed that he has a very unforeseen connection to the group --- a connection that Sierra is both shocked and thrilled by.

Just as things seem to calm down, a terrible accident changes the course of Sierra’s long-awaited California adventure. Time she meant to spend on the beach is now spent in a hospital waiting room. The aftermath of the accident leads to some big changes for everyone involved --- and surprisingly, these changes might actually be for the best.

DON'T YOU WISHis a fun destination-interlude in the Sierra Jensen series. Fans of the Christy Miller series will undoubtedly love seeing Sierra once again transported into the world of Christy Miller. The book often seems to be a way to indirectly add on to Christy Miller’s story, while Sierra’s takes a backseat. Its characters --- Christy, Todd, Doug, Katie and Tracy --- are primarily from the previous series, and new readers might have difficulty following the story that is already in progress, as well as grow frustrated by the lack of much development in Sierra’s life.

This aside,DON'T YOU WISHis a fun and enjoyable read, filled with the California sun and sand that make Gunn’s novels warm and lively.
