In the dramatic conclusion to the chronicles of Scotty Dawn, Lisa Samson does a brilliant job tying together the myriad of loose ends. Scotty and her dad, Ezra, take to the road in search of answers. Is Scotty's mom, Babette, dead or alive? Will Ezra be able to track down that old lead from years gone by when he worked with the FBI? On the road, the twosome have high hopes and truly believe in miracles. After all, God brought them back together, right?

Still, reality hits them squarely when they locate the former mob hit man who supposedly fell for Scotty's mom way back when and took her away. Vince, the mobster in hiding, never comes out during the day and neighbors only spot him mowing his lawn at night. While Scotty and her dad hide out in an effort to talk with Vince, they are sorely disappointed when it's obvious that Babette is not there with him. Still, the guy knows something.

On the road again, Scotty has another adventure working her summer away at an orphanage where a baby steals her heart and others try to steal her peace of mind. She soon discovers how disagreeable young people (and old) who are hurting (and have been hurt) can be. Enter Monica, who was a victim of abuse before coming to the orphanage for her protection. Re-enter Karissa, the spoiled actress who once held reign over Scotty's best friend Seth's heart.

After a dramatic breakup, Seth texts Scotty and asks her to intervene in helping a very troubled (and now pregnant) Karissa. To her shock and dismay, Karissa agrees to visit the orphanage and Scotty is left wondering how she got herself into this mess. After all, she came to serve the needy children, not babysit a temperamental celebrity with a major attitude. Still, Scotty feels the inner tug from the Holy Spirit to give it a go, and she does. In a crazy turn of unlikely events, Karissa gets a life-check and turns her life around, which only serves to astound Scotty and strengthen her newfound faith in Christ.

In the midst of all her drama, Scotty is in touch with her hippie grandma Charley, who goes off to Scotland with her new boyfriend and finds both faith and love. Seth continues to text and visit Scotty, further pulling on her tender heartstrings. And Scotty’s dad trumps all with shocking news about Vince and his relationship with her mom. Before the final scene, Scotty and her dad find the answers they were seeking and lean deeply into the arms of God for the next step of their life by coming full circle with those closest to them.

Extra doses of laughter and fun make this story a highly enjoyable yet comical journey with one of the most lovable teen characters ever penned.
