Dare You To

It all started with a dare.

Beth Risk’s life is anything but perfect. Her father’s gone. Her mother is an alcoholic with an abusive boyfriend. Beth has take care of her mother because she won’t do it for herself. This all changes when Beth gets in trouble and her former pro baseball player uncle takes custody of her. She is forced to leave every part of her life in the city behind and start over in Groveton, Kansas.

"DARE YOU TO gives readers a love story with an edge."

Ryan Stone’s life seems perfect. He’s a baseball player bound for a professional career. He’s popular and well liked at school. His parents are highly involved in the community. Little does the town of Groveton know, Ryan’s life is actually quite complicated. He holds a number of secrets that he won’t tell even the closest of friends.

Enter the dare. Ryan and his friends are constantly challenging each other to some crazy dares. During one of the final days of summer, his pals dare him to ask tough girl, Beth, for her phone number. Beth does nothing to make this easy for Ryan and his extremely competitive nature won’t allow him to give up.  As the challenge continues, it sparks an interest in both of them that is both unexpected and undeniable.

DARE YOU TO gives readers a love story with an edge. It is filled with a number of compelling issues that allow the reader to really connect with both Beth and Ryan as well as their stories. The connection further develops because the story is told from the two main characters’ perspectives. The reader is able to see two sides of the story, a refreshing change that gives McGarry the opportunity to give a more thorough telling of a convincing story.

DARE YOU TO is an intriguing story, and McGarry does an excellent job of telling it. The characters are well developed and easy to find an understanding with. The plot keeps the reader interested throughout the whole book with its electrifying twists and turns. Everything about this story is believable and  done well. Reading DARE YOU TO is rewarding, especially those who are in want of a exceptionally daring romance.
