Deadly Little Lessons: A Touch Novel

Camelia is slowly learning to accept her unusual gift of psychometry, the ability to sense things through touch. Even though she sometimes finds herself fighting for her sanity, a battle her aunt has lost with her own psychometry, Camelia can’t help but admit that good that can come out of it like all of the suffering people she can help. Still, dealing with this gift is definitely a challenge, and that’s on the easy days. Then Camelia stumbles onto a deeply buried family secret that makes "easy" seem a distant memory.

"Laurie Faria Stolarz’s Touch series continues to thrill and entertain. The pages fly by with a terrifying mystery, spicy romance and paranormal intrigue."

With her world tipped upside down, Camelia struggles to find a foothold. Her friends Wes and Kimmie are lifesavers, and her boyfriend, Adam, is trying to understand. However, she really misses Ben, a fellow psychometric. Unfortunately, he has distanced himself both physically and emotionally from Camelia, and she finds she needs him more than ever when she starts to receive new psychometry messages. With a bit of digging, Camelia believes the crying she’s hearing 24/7 are coming from Sasha, the missing teen who disappeared two months ago. Camelia is positive Sasha is still alive and in grave danger, so she decides to do what she can to help.

So when a summer arts program opens up in Sasha’s hometown, Camelia decides to attend. Not only will this program get her closer to the clues in Sasha’s case, but it’s a grand opportunity to put some much needed distance between herself and her festering family secret. As an added bonus, Camelia is thrilled to find out that Wes signs up for the arts program, as well. Now she’ll have some backup in her investigations. Then she stumbles across a blog by a fellow named Neal sharing his own psychometry experiences; although she appreciates reading about his similar problems, it makes her miss Ben even more. As Camelia digs deeper into the dangerous mystery of the missing girl, she’s going to need all of the friends she can get!

Laurie Faria Stolarz’s Touch series continues to thrill and entertain. The pages fly by with a terrifying mystery, spicy romance and paranormal intrigue. As with her past books, Stolarz uses the clever technique of interspersing chapters from others' viewpoints in addition to Camelia's; in this case, Sasha and the lessons she’s learned during her nightmare of an abduction. She also weaves in a wonderful message of the importance of being true to oneself, showing this in Camelia’s aunt's struggles with mental health issues, Wes' fight against his father’s mission to change him into someone he’s not, and of course, Camelia’s journey toward accepting herself as the wonderfully unique person she is.
