Fault Line

When the person you love is forced into a downward spiral, it can take all your energy to bring her back to life --- and even that may not be enough.

All-star swimmer and high school senior Ben is the perfect catch, and many of the girls at school know it. But the only one to catch his eye is the quirky and brazenly honest new girl, Ani. Ben soon finds himself spending all his spare time with Ani, transfixed by her ceaseless chatter as well as her long, slender legs. Ben loves how full of life Ani is --- until she goes to a party alone and that vibrancy is stolen from her.

"C. Desir infuses her novel with such realism and desperation it will leave readers gasping for air and haunted by their own inability to lend some strength to Ani."

Ani is now the hollow shell of the person she used to be, and Ben blames himself for not going to the party and protecting her from becoming the victim of a horrible assault. Ben is determined to support Ani and pick up the pieces of their lives. But when vicious rumors start swirling around school, and Ani becomes so damaged that she starts living up to her misguided reputation, Ben begins to doubt whether either of them can be saved.

FAULT LINE is a gut-wrenching novel about how love can be stolen by the hurtful, sickening actions of others --- especially love for oneself. Seen through Ben’s eyes, Ani’s heart-breaking struggle and inability to recover from her attack cast them both into a vacuum of darkness and despair that neither character can escape. C. Desir infuses her novel with such realism and desperation it will leave readers gasping for air and haunted by their own inability to lend some strength to Ani.
