The Chaos of Stars

Review

The Chaos of Stars

Like any other teenager, Isadora’s life can be pretty complicated. But unlike other teenagers, Isadora’s parents are the ancient Egyptian gods, Osiris and Isis. This can make disobeying them pretty difficult, considering her mother can give Isadora a headache simply by the force of her anger. All her life, Isadora has felt unwanted, like she was a tool at her parents’ disposal. All she wants is to leave her mythological, immortal family forever. When the opportunity comes for Isadora to go to California and live with her brother, she jumps at the chance.
"THE CHAOS OF STARS is a quick, easy read. It is fast paced and readers won’t be able to get enough of Kiersten White’s characters or her witty dialogue!"
In California, Isadora finds herself actually missing her family…even her crazy, insensitive mother. But she is not ready to go home yet. With a designing project she’s begun for a museum that is holding an exhibit for her mother’s artifacts, a couple of close friends and even a possible romance, Isadora’s life is looking better than ever. Except for the disturbing dreams she has; dreams of a darkness so dangerous, it can destroy a god. In THE CHAOS OF STARS, Isadora discovers that the ties within families run deeper than she ever thought.

THE CHAOS OF STARS is a witty, truthful novel that will pull at your heartstrings. It centers around Egyptian mythology, a side of mythology that isn’t normally seen; specifically, it talks about Osiris and Isis, who are Isadora’s father and mother. This causes many problems for Isadora, who believes that her parents don’t truly love her and only want to use her as a tool for their own purposes.

Kiersten White has created a brilliant main protagonist. Isadora is witty, sarcastic and down-to-earth, and her narrating is amusing and insightful. Many teenagers will be able to relate to her and to the problems she faces. And Isadora isn’t the only likable character in this novel. Isadora’s friend Tyler is energetic, funny and sweet; and of course, there is Ry, a Greek poet who both intrigues and gets on Isadora’s nerves. THE CHAOS OF STARS is chock-full of characters that make this story!

THE CHAOS OF STARS is a quick, easy read. It is fast paced and readers won’t be able to get enough of Kiersten White’s characters or her witty dialogue! This novel is perfect for people who don’t have a lot of time to sit and read or for people who are stuck in a reading rut. Additionally, the message THE CHAOS OF STARS holds about the importance of family will make readers think about and appreciate their own families.

Readers, both teenagers and adults alike, will enjoy this refreshing new novel.
