The Twelve Days of Dash & Lily
THE TWELVE DAYS OF DASH AND LILY is the sequel to the 2010 release, DASH AND LILY’S BOOK OF DARES. Both are co-written by David Levithan and Rachel Cohn. Rachel and David have also written NICK AND NORAH’S INFINITE PLAYLIST and NAOMI AND ELY’S NO KISS LIST together.
"Cohn and Levithan executed this novel really well in the fact that the characters and story flowed really well from the previous book written a few years ago."
THE TWELVE DAYS OF DASH AND LILY picks up about a year after DASH AND LILY’S BOOK OF DARES left off. Dash and Lily are finally together, but they have not had an easy path with their year. Their relationship is not in a place that they want it to be in. Lily’s and Dash’s families are both having to face challenges in the holiday season. Dash and Lily have to figure out who they are and what kind of relationship they want or if they want a relationship at all.
The writing style in these books is so entertaining. I never thought we would get a sequel to the first book, but I am so glad we did. Most of the time with contemporaries you just have to imagine that the character’s lives are perfect after the end of the novel. I like that with this novel, we get to see that life for the characters is not all perfect after the novel ends. They still encounter challenges. Cohn and Levithan executed this novel really well in the fact that the characters and story flowed really well from the previous book written a few years ago. These characters may be facing new challenges, but they are still the characters you know and love.
This novel, as well as the first one, is perfect if you want cute, hilarious, and witty characters that encounter a dose of reality. It is definitely great to read them during the holidays, but they are really perfect for any time. They are also super short, so if you are a reader who likes books that are quick reads, this is a story you will probably really enjoy.
