Wickedpedia: Point Horror

It was a simple act of revenge. No, it was a brilliant act of revenge. What better way to right a wrong than to make the wrong look like a total fool…

Cole had never had the best of luck with girls. In fact, the one girl he had even gotten to call “girlfriend” had recently added an “ex” in front of that title in order to date Springfield’s soccer star, Josh.  Josh was cuter, more athletic, and, luckily for Cole, much less intelligent. So after tweaking Josh’s source for research papers, Cole vents the rest of his anger by writing the fake life stories about his classmates, including their deaths. The prank is harmless until one of the students is found dead in a locker room --- just as Cole described in one of his articles. Now there’s a killer roaming around Springfield High, and it’s up to Cole and his friends to stop him or her before they end up as the next victims.

WICKEDPEDIA] switches from The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy funny to Nancy Drew serious sleuthing in the span of just a few chapters….Anyone looking for a good thriller will not be disappointed with this one!

I couldn’t help but laugh at the beginning of this one. The out-of-whack nature of Cole’s best friend was awesome, and the two of them obviously care a lot about each other. On the other hand, my mind and gut started doing cartwheels after the first murder scene. It switches from The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy funny to Nancy Drew serious sleuthing in the span of just a few chapters. It’s eerie and the overall effect is wicked awesome.

WICKEDPEDIA is a murder mystery for the modern age.  Sorry Sherlock, but these days a laptop is going to play a bigger part in cracking the case than a magnifying glass. Van Etten writes a killer that even today’s case crackers won’t see coming.

When it comes to jaw-droppers, this one takes the cake. The final scene left me stunned and grinning at how well I was fooled. Anyone looking for a good thriller will not be disappointed with this one!
