IfYouAskMe.jpgIn today's edition of the If You Ask Me... Q&A, we're spotlighting 16-year-old Katie from Helena, MT and 15-year-old Amanda from South Lyon MI.  Read their thoughts below on their favorite series (Harry Potter, Hunger Games and Mortal Instruments), memorable quotes, and literary characters they'd love to meet.

Katie from Helena, MT

What is the last book you read? Would you suggest it to a friend? Why or why not?

ALONG FOR THE RIDE by Sarah Dessen. Yes, it was wonderfully written and fun to read.

Name three characters from a book that you'd like to invite to your birthday party.

Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, and Katniss Everdeen (from The Hunger Games).

Tell us about your favorite book series.

Harry Potter is by far my favorite book series ever. You get to be with the characters through everthing they go through and they have the most incredible adventures.

Amanda from South Lyon, MI

If you could trade places with any character from a book for a day, who would you be and why?

I would choose Clary from the Mortal Instruments series by Cassandra Clare. Clary is petite and cute the way I wish I could look. She is also brave and smart, and is in love with the perfect guy (even if she thinks he is her brother for the majority of the books).

What is the last book you read? Would you suggest it to a friend? Why or why not?

The last book I read is TRUTH, book 3 in the Chasing Yesterday series. Yes, I would recommend this book to a friend. TRUTH was a fast read and was very suspenseful. You didn't know if J. D. would make it until the last page of the book.

Name three characters from a book that you'd like to invite to your birthday party.

Clary from CITY OF BONES, Scout from TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD; and Grace, from SHIVER.

Do you have a favorite quote from a book? If so, what is it?

"...and so the lion fell in love with the lamb."

"What a stupid lamb."

"What a sick Masochistic lion."

- TWILIGHT by Stephenie Meyer

Tell us about your top three favorite books of all time.

BREAKING DAWN by Stephenie Meyer, SHIVER by Maggie Stiefvater, and CITY OF GLASS by Cassandra Clare.

If you had the opportunity to meet any author (dead or alive), who would you choose to meet, and what three questions would you ask him/her?

Margaret Peterson Haddix, or Scott Westerfield:

1. How did you come up with the ideas for your books?

2. How long did it take you to write your longest book?

3. If your fans wanted it, would you make a sequel to a series/book that you've already finished?

What movies have you seen that were based on books? Did you like the book or film version better? Why?

Twilight, New Moon, 1984, and of Mice and Men. Whether I like the film or book better depends on which I watch/read first. And, if I read the book, it depends on how close the movie stays to the book. For example, I like the New Moon movie more than the Twilight movie, because they stayed closer to the book when making New Moon.

Tell us about your favorite book series.

My favorite book series that I have recently finished is the Mortal Instruments series. I love how you just have to keep reading and how you can't put the book down. I also loved the Hunger Games books. The series that I am reading right know but can't continue until the next book comes out is the Leviathan series, by Scott Westerfield.
