Fashionable Fiction

For those of you who want to take reading off the page, Fashionable Fiction provides wearable outfits based on the latest young adult reads.

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them

This week we have an extra special and magical edition of Fashionable Fiction inspired by Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. We loved the movie --- not just because of Newt and all of his adorable beasts --- but because it dropped us back into the wizarding world and showed us so many new facets to the story we know and love. One thing we loved the most was the 1920s wardrobe, which brings us to this week's Fashionable Fiction based on Newt Scamander and Queenie Goldstein.

Fashionable Fiction: Holiday Edition

Happy December! The weather outside is frightful, but the fiction --- and fashion --- are definitely delightful this month. We've got some fun and different outfits for this week's fashionable fiction inspired by two different holiday reads. We have looks for both Dash and Lily from THE TWELVE DAYS OF DASH & LILY by David Levithan and Rachel Cohn, as well as Sierra and Caleb from WHAT LIGHT by Jay Asher. These are two great books to read with a cup of cocoa during your winter break and perhaps these outfits might give you some inspiration for your holiday festivities.

Early November 2016

Happy November! The weather is cooling down, but the fiction --- and fashion --- are definitely heating up this month. We've got some fun and different outfits for this week's fashionable fiction inspired by some of the big early November releases. From Wonderland's future Queen of Hearts, a robotic teenage bodyguard, and a greaser from the wrong side of town, to a young boy who dreams of being a poet, there is sure to be a character that will convince any YA reader to pick up one of these books.

Late October 2016

The weather may be cooling down but our fashion is hot and based off of some late October releases that we really enjoyed. Some outfits are perfect for a night out on the town while others allow you to kick it back and look fashionable walking down the school hallway.

Halloween 2016

BOO! Don't worry, it's not a scary monster, it's Fashionable Fiction: Halloween Edition. While we know that some of you have been planning your Halloween costumes since November 1st, 2015, there are others of you who --- like us --- are still scrambling for a very last-minute ensemble. If that sounds like you, we've put together these YA-inspired DIY costumes based on some of our Teen Board Members' favorite books.

Early October 2016

While attending New York Comic Con, Teenreads was totally wowed by the awesome costumes people put together. Sure there were tons of Batmen and Wonder Women and even some monsters, but the coolest outfits were the ones that were both wearable and totally nerdy. Inspired by these trendy nods to fiction, we created our newest feature, Fashionable Fiction, a collection of outfits based on new YA releases that both guys and girls can wear.
