Teen Board Monthly Question

Teen Board Question - June 2016

With the days rapidly getting longer and warmer, we at Teenreads have one very important thing on our minds: summer reading! We don't just mean the books you're assigned to read for school, but the ones you wait all year to enjoy just for the fun of it. With our sunglasses on and our sunblock applied, we asked our Teen Board Members about their summer reading plans, from treasured re-reads to books they've waited all year to read.  Check out their answers below!

Teen Board Question - May 2016

Last month, our Teen Board Members had the exciting opportunity to read and comment on copies of YOU GOT THIS!: Unleash Your Awesomeness, Find Your Path, and Change Your World, an inspiring debut from 16-year-old CEO Maya Penn. Maya started her company, Maya's Ideas, when she was only eight and has continued to thrive ever since. An expert at identifying her ideas and turning them into functional plans, Maya writes in the hopes that teens will learn to identify their unique creative identities and use them to make their dreams come true. Look below to see what our Teen Board Members had to say about Maya's motivating book.

Teen Board Question - April 2016

Spring is finally here and we at Teenreads are feeling refreshed, rejuvenated and ready to tackle our overwhelming TBRs. Looking at our lists and piles, however, had us thinking about every bibliophile's worst nightmare: the dreaded reading slump. We know even the most dedicated readers can fall into a rut, so we asked our Teen Board Members about their most recent reading slumps and how they pulled themselves out of them. Check out their answers and advice below!

Keeping that in mind, we asked our Teen Board Members about some of the most memorable and instantly gripping first lines of their favorite books. Check out their answers below --- and after the jump you can see some of their beloved classic opening lines as well!

Teen Board Question - January 2016

Happy New Year! In honor of the start of 2016, we asked our Teen Board members to tell us their bookish New Year’s resolutions, whether it be reading more books, reading different kinds of books or emulating one of their favorite literary characters. See what they came up with below --- they’re good models for your own bookish resolutions!

Inspiration from the Books We Love

Which Book Had One of Your All-Time Favorite Endings, And Why?

It's December, the twelfth month of the year, so we have endings on the brain. Without giving specific spoilers (tricky, we know), tell us which book had one of your all-time favorite endings, and why.

If you could choose any book character to be the President of the United States, who would you pick, and why?

Though it’s a whole year until we elect a new president, you can’t go a day in the news without hearing something about one of the candidates! In honor of Election Day, which falls on the first Tuesday of November each year, we want to know --- if you could choose any book character to be the President of the United States, who would you pick, and why?

If you could either play a (friendly!) prank on a YA character OR give them a tasty treat, what would you do, and who would be the recipient of your holiday spirit?

To trick or to treat --- that is the question! Now that Halloween is just around the bend, we wanted to know: if our Teen Board members could either play a (friendly!) prank on a YA character OR give them a tasty treat, what would they do and who would be the recipient of your holiday spirit? See their answers, below!

You get to be in a group with two characters from books --- who would you choose to work with, and why?

Back to school means back to group projects! Sure you can work with your best friend or the smartest kid in your class, but wouldn't it be fun to choose partners from books? We certainly thought so. Therefore, we asked our Teen Board members to answer the following question:  You get to be in a group with two characters from books (either the same book or different books) --- who would you choose to work with, and why? See their answers, below!
