Teen Board Monthly Question

Teen Board Question - February 2016

Since Valentine's Day is in February, we wanted to put our Teen Board members in a romantic state of mind. Therefore, our Teen Board question this month is: if you could go on a date inspired by a YA book, what would you do? See their answers, below! You might get some (perhaps infeasible...) ideas for the 14th!

Teen Board Question - January 2016

Happy New Year! In honor of the start of 2016, we asked our Teen Board members to tell us their bookish New Year’s resolutions, whether it be reading more books, reading different kinds of books or emulating one of their favorite literary characters. See what they came up with below --- they’re good models for your own bookish resolutions!

Inspiration from the Books We Love

Which Book Had One of Your All-Time Favorite Endings, And Why?

It's December, the twelfth month of the year, so we have endings on the brain. Without giving specific spoilers (tricky, we know), tell us which book had one of your all-time favorite endings, and why.

If you could choose any book character to be the President of the United States, who would you pick, and why?

Though it’s a whole year until we elect a new president, you can’t go a day in the news without hearing something about one of the candidates! In honor of Election Day, which falls on the first Tuesday of November each year, we want to know --- if you could choose any book character to be the President of the United States, who would you pick, and why?

If you could either play a (friendly!) prank on a YA character OR give them a tasty treat, what would you do, and who would be the recipient of your holiday spirit?

To trick or to treat --- that is the question! Now that Halloween is just around the bend, we wanted to know: if our Teen Board members could either play a (friendly!) prank on a YA character OR give them a tasty treat, what would they do and who would be the recipient of your holiday spirit? See their answers, below!

You get to be in a group with two characters from books --- who would you choose to work with, and why?

Back to school means back to group projects! Sure you can work with your best friend or the smartest kid in your class, but wouldn't it be fun to choose partners from books? We certainly thought so. Therefore, we asked our Teen Board members to answer the following question:  You get to be in a group with two characters from books (either the same book or different books) --- who would you choose to work with, and why? See their answers, below!

If you were the teacher, what's the one book you would assign your class as summer reading and why?

It's nearly time to head back to school. Hopefully you were able to stay on your academic game over the summer! This month, we asked our Teen Board members to get back into the school spirit a little early, telling them: Assume you’re the teacher and get to assign your class one book to read before filing back into the classroom. What do you choose, and why? See what they had to say!

If you can get a job based on a role in a book, what would you choose to be and why?

It's the peak of summer --- time to get a summer job! This July, we wanted to know how our Teen Board members would keep themselves occupied if they lived in a fictional world. We asked if you can get a job based on a role in a book, what would you choose to be and why? For instance, you could be a Quidditch referee as in Harry Potter or a Special reinforcing the laws in the Uglies series. Let's see what they had to say!

Do you have a memorable bookish memory with your mom, dad, grandparent or sibling?

Last month we celebrated Mother’s Day and this month we celebrate Father’s Day, so we have families on the brain! Do you have a memorable bookish memory with your mom, dad, grandparent or sibling? Maybe they gave you a book for your birthday that you’ve read 100 times, or you read an entire series together. Tell us the story in a few sentences!

What question would you ask your favorite author, and why?

This month we asked our Teen Board members what single question they'd ask if they got to spend three minutes with their favorite author. Check out their answers below!
