Archives - Teenreads Monthly Update

Hello Teenreaders,

The date of April 23rd is a very special one for book lovers --- it's World Book Night, an annual celebration that takes place around the world where people give away free books to light or non-readers, everywhere from hospitals to food pantries to restaurants.

Why April 23rd? Because that's William Shakespeare's birthday, and also the day that Michael De Cervantes, the author of DON QUIXOTE, passed away. In Spain, April 23rd is also St. George's Day, which is similar to Valentine's Day in the U.S., so in Catalonia, it's tradition to give out books and roses on this day!

Hello Teenreaders, and happy April!

I spend most of my time thinking about the inside of books at Teenreads --- the memorable characters, the deceiving plot twists, the quotable lines and the romantic tension that finally transforms into a near-perfect relationship. But this month, I’ve been thinking all about the outside: book covers. What makes a good cover, anyway?
