Bookish Holidays

The stores are all decked out for the holidays making us feel some shopping anxiety here at Teenreads.com even though it is not yet Thanksgiving! In our office we are surrounded by books, which means we spend most of the day deciding what books will be good for what person on our list so we can feel like we are holiday multi-tasking even when at the office.

One of our favorites is JINGLE BOY by Kieran Scott. Why do we love it? Because it makes us laugh about the holidays the same way we do when we watch Chevy Chase movies about mega-celebrating. Because we can relate to the character. Because good funny books are just too few and far between. To celebrate JINGLE BOY and the entire holiday season, we have a special JINGLE BOY contest where you can win books and a Santa hat just like Paul's! Read on for more details. And also read our Chick Lit feature all about the Shopaholic titles. We think many of you can relate to wanting to spend money like Becky Bloomwood!

For those of you love fantasy and science fiction, we bring you a new anthology called FIREBIRDS. We also have a roundtable conversation with the authors who contributed to this book.

Of course, we again have a great regular lineup of great reviews and Cool New Books.

And back to shopping....our Poll question is all about holiday shopping. Let us know if you are buying books to give as gifts this holiday season.

Have a Happy Thanksgiving! In between turkey, parades and football, we hope you find some time to READ.

JINGLE BOY by Kieran Scott --- And a JINGLE BOY CONTEST!

Here come the holidays! Teenreads.com think that one of the best ways to spend your time this holiday season is to read JINGLE BOY, a funny tale about a teenager named Paul whose favorite holiday is ruined by a series of highly unfortunate events. He doesn't react well to these problems and needs something --- or someone --- to change his outlook on Christmas. Will this be Paul's worst holiday ever, or is there still a chance for a merry Christmas?

To celebrate the release of this book, its publisher, Delacorte Press, is hosting a special contest that will run through December 9th. All you need to do is send in a postcard with your name, address, email address and phone number, and date of birth to "Jingle Boy Internet Sweepstakes" Random House Children's Books, 1745 Broadway, Mail Drop 10-4, New York, NY 10019. Five U.S. readers who are under the age of 18 will win two copies of JINGLE BOY by Kieran Scott and a Santa hat. Can you say "holiday shopping?"

We have a review of the book and an interview with the author, Kieran Scott, where she shares her thoughts on who inspired Paul and the Christmas traditions she loves most.
Read our review of JINGLE BOY here and don't miss the special contest.
