Dreamer (Traveler)

L.E. DeLano, esteemed author of novel TRAVELER, has released the new fast-paced sequel, DREAMER.

After the loss of someone close to her, and a struggle with her own life, Jessa has learned that magical parallel worlds aren’t just fun foods and wild new lifestyles. Now someone is after her, determined to take everything away from Jessa, including the new worlds she’s encountered. This threat combined with her heartbreak over her complicated relationship with her best friend Ben, means that nothing in life seems to make sense anymore. With the arrival of a vengeful version of someone in her past, and new secrets being uncovered by the day, Jessa’s destiny approaches faster than ever before. She might have the power to save the infinite worlds around her, but now she has to decide what, or who, she will be willing to sacrifice to save them all.

"DREAMER is the perfect combination of everything I loved from TRAVELER, with its own unique touch to form another novel of pure magic."

DREAMER is the perfect combination of everything I loved from TRAVELER, with its own unique touch to form another novel of pure magic. With witty jokes, heartbreaking romance and a thrilling plot, DeLano manages to pack everything I wanted into this one book. From the first page I was enthralled with Jessa and her turbulent relationship with Ben as well as the constant memory of Finn, who I love from the first novel. Often times I end up disliking love triangles, but here I was hooked, never knowing which way the story was going to go, or who I even wanted her to end up with. Additionally, both Ben and Finn are two of my favorite characters, both written so well that I could imagine them standing next to me. Beyond them, the descriptions of her brother, Danny, and his autism consistently blew me away by adding realism, which really added to my enjoyment of the novel.

Although the characters blew me away, nothing affected me as much as the beautiful writing DeLano develops, creating entrancing words that each bring their own dusting of magic to the pages. This book did express more serious tones in relations to the parallel worlds than the first, but I still fell in love with each and every one of her alternate lives. Even the passages presented as Jessa’s own short stories were brilliant, as they seemed to have their own unique author voice that I loved all the same. As mentioned before, the plot of this novel kept me on the edge of my seat from cover to cover. Many novels I read tend to become predictable near the closing, but DREAMER took me by surprise, completely throwing my expectations out the window until the very last chapter.

DREAMER is an essential, a must-read for any younger YA readers who love fantasy, and the perfect sequel to fans of TRAVELER. It’s the perfect introduction to fantasy, as it contains the basic setting of the real world, the number one novel for a beginner. This novel piled up layer on layer of excitement and energy to form the kind of story that will leave any- and everyone begging for just one more book.
