Gone Too Far

Review

Gone Too Far

GONE TOO FAR by Natalie D. Richards is a thrilling novel that will shock in the end. Piper Woods, a senior at Claireville High, is counting down the days til she graduates and attends NYU to pursue a career in photography. Her normal day-by-day lifestyle changes when she discovers a mysterious notebook detailing all the wrongdoings of students in her senior class. Astonished by what her fellow classmates have done, Piper doesn't know what to believe about her classmates --- even her best friend.

When tragedy strikes Claireville High, Piper feels the need to seek vengeance. So, when she begins to receive anonymous texts granting her just that, Piper becomes an accomplice to cruel humiliation. Meanwhile, popular football player Nick Patterson has taken a liking to Piper but she tries to steer clear from him. He is popular, she is not. They don't belong in the same circles and she would rather not be associated with his elitist self. However, as Piper's double life helping the vigilante seek vengeance becomes too much, Nick is the only one she can lean on for help. Together, they attempt to figure out who the vigilante is and stop his/her madness.

GONE TOO FAR will definitely be loved by many teens who are into suspenseful, holding-onto-your-breath-as-you-read novels.

The novel will have readers guessing the mystery person until the end and when it is finally revealed, their shock will be so palpable. The author did an excellent job disguising the culprit, making the reader go in circles trying to figure out who it is. Also, I loved Piper's character a lot. I especially loved the detail the writer put into describing Piper's passion for photography. I could genuinely feel Piper's excitement and appreciation for the art.

GONE TOO FAR will definitely be loved by many teens who are into suspenseful, holding-onto-your-breath-as-you-read novels. The relationship between Piper and Nick also brought the novel to life, because who doesn't love a little teenage romance? The ending was a bit fast-paced and I felt like it could have been more resolved, but it was still an impacting thriller nonetheless. I definitely look forward to reading more work from Natalie D. Richards!
