I See Reality: Twelve Short Stories About Real Life

I SEE REALITY is a compilation of 12 short stories dealing with the problems and obstacles teens face in this modern world. Each story provides an insight into a different kind of life, issue and method to triumph over everyday battles. Amazingly, each story and writer manages to captivate the reader with every page, sentence and word.

The stories encompass first love, school shootings, self-image, accepting yourself despite your flaws and more. They are each narrated by a different author in a different setting, and each character responds differently to their situation.  Although the stories are short, the reader finds themselves becoming attached to each and every one. At the end of each story, I could not help but want to read it again. The only thing that kept me from doing so was the allure of a new story just a page away. The authors have an uncanny ability to capture the reader's attention and place them in the story alongside each character.

These 12 stories manage to capture all of the laughter, tears, struggles, horrors and highlights of being a teenager and I loved every minute of it!

What I loved most about this book was the fact that each story possesses a sense of brutal honesty and candor that I have never encountered before. It didn't matter if the subject made me laugh out loud or brought me to tears. At the end of each tale, I found myself astonished at the openness and acceptance woven in among the dialogue and self-reflection. This book truly mirrors the obstacles teens face in a modern world. There is darkness hidden on the edges of every story but the characters, especially teens, attempt to mask it with humor and wit and deny the depth of their situation. These 12 stories manage to capture all of the laughter, tears, struggles, horrors and highlights of being a teenager and I loved every minute of it! I would recommend I SEE REALITY to mature teens.
