From Anna Banks, the bestselling author who brought you JOYRIDE and The Syrena Legacy, comes the fantastic young adult novel, NEMESIS.

NEMESIS is about how a young girl, Sepora, who escapes her home kingdom of Serubel, to get out of her father’s reaches and try to prevent a war between the five kingdoms. Not only is she the beloved princess of Serubel, she is also what the five kingdoms call a forger, someone who provides the kingdom’s money supply by producing what is called spectorium out of her hands. There are only a few people who are aware of her abilities, and her father abuses her power as a result. Without the spectorium that Sepora produces daily, the kingdoms will not have any money and energy to provide their people with.

"I knew from the moment I looked at this book that I would instantly fall in love with the world and the characters, and I did!"

Upon escaping and faking her own death, Sepora decides to go to Serubel’s enemy kingdom of Theoria, where she meets their young Falcon King, Tarik. His father recently died from the “Quiet Plague” that has swept across the kingdom. Tarik is now left to rule in his father’s footsteps and finds himself struggling with it. After days of travel, Sepora is captured and sold to the King’s harem, all while no one knows that she is the last forger in all of the five kingdoms. After a great effort to capture the Falcon King’s attention, she becomes his most trusted advisor. Little does she know that spectorium is needed more than ever before --- but she does know that she cannot share her deepest secret, even with the King.

I knew from the moment I looked at this book that I would instantly fall in love with the world and the characters, and I did! Once I opened it and started reading it, I could not put it down! One thing I loved about NEMESIS is that each chapter switches the point of view between Sepora and Tarik, the Falcon King. There are not many books like NEMESIS that I have encountered before. I think that the change in points of view is what kept me so engaged in the story, as I was able to hear both sides of a romantic love story. I also really enjoyed the way the main characters found each other and how they felt about one another but couldn’t express it. Forbidden love is something I have always loved in books.

Something I did not like about this book was that some parts became a little predictable and repetitive. The beginning of the story was very good, but it took a while for the main plot to come into play. There were some characters and storylines that were introduced in the beginning and then they were completely forgotten by the end of the book.

By the end of this amazing book, I was very surprised and found myself waning more with the story and the characters. I recommend this book to anyone who is interested in fantasy and romance. There is a sequel to this book called ALLY, and I am very much looking forward to reading it in the future!
