Nowhere But Here

Review

Nowhere But Here

Emily has caring family members and friends and resides in a safe neighborhood --- and has a biological father who left her and her mother to join a motorcycle club. When he contacts Emily one summer and tells her about his life, she begins to soften her image of him and eventually decides to go visit him in Kentucky.

Oz is a part of her father’s motorcycle club, and he would do just about anything to keep his family safe (which I found quite touching and sweet!).  Oz becomes Emily’s guardian as a rite to become a full member of the club. How will Emily respond to the seemingly never-ending drama in her father’s motorcycle club? Will she take a liking to Oz, or will their opposing personalities collide?

This story about friendship, loyalty and family will quickly win you over with its original and well-executed plot.Though it took me awhile to get used to the story’s pace, NOWHERE BUT HERE was a very enjoyable to read!

This story about friendship, loyalty and family will quickly win you over with its original and well-executed plot.

Oz was my favorite character in the book mostly because of the way he cared for those around him. He really defied any previous expectations of what a member of a motorcycle club is like.

I loved the comic tone that was instilled throughout the novel and I found Emily’s character to be very relatable and fun to read.  Her pre-determined ideas about Oz most likely reflect those of the reader, as well. However, I do feel that author Katie McGarry constantly uses Emily to create useless drama, which distracts the reader from the actual plot.

In all, McGarry executed this book extremely well. This story’s action will want to make you want to tear your hair out! Emily’s change in character totally shocked me and I was very disappointed when I finally ended the book and had no more to read. I cannot wait to see what McGarry has planned for the next books in this series.
