The Forsaken

As an obedient orphan of the UNA (the super-country that was once Mexico, the USA and Canada), Alenna Shawcross learned at an early age to blend in and be quiet --- having your parents taken by the police will do that to a girl. But Alenna can't help but stand out when she inexplicably fails a government personality test that all 16-year-olds have to take. The test claims that she has a high capacity for rebellious behavior and brutal violence, and so she is exiled to "The Wheel," a mysterious prison island where all would-be criminals end up.

The life expectancy of prisoners on The Wheel is just two years, and the conditions are dirty, violent and chaotic. Alenna is forced to deal with civil wars for land ownership and machines that snatch kids out of their makeshift homes. So when Alenna meets Liam, a charismatic warrior who wants to escape, she decides to embark on an epic journey that will uncover shocking secrets about the UNA --- and her own identity as well. Survival may seem impossible, but Alenna and her friends are determined to achieve it at any cost.
