The Name of the Blade

The Name of the Blade

Zoe Marriott is the author of several standalone books, including SHADOWS ON THE MOON. THE NAME OF THE BLADE is her first installment in her first series.

Mio wants to make her costume amazing. So, when she takes the family katana, she didn't think anything bad would happen. She soon realizes that she has set in motion a series of events that will not only change her life, but also the people around her. Not only does the sword bring forth power, it has also brought Shinobu into Mio's life. It isn't long before she finds herself falling for him. Mio has to keep everything in check --- including her emotions and the power that the sword has --- and she needs to survive.

[Zoe Marriott] is a writer that puts such gut-wrenching emotions into her characters, and because of that, I find her writing to be superb.

I thought that this novel was great. I loved the characters, especially Shinobu. At the time of this writing, I am also reading SHADOWS ON THE MOON, and I have found many similarities in Zoe Marriott’s storylines. She definitely has a particular writing style that is unchanging through all of her novels, and I love that style. She is a writer that puts such gut-wrenching emotions into her characters, and because of that, I find her writing to be superb.  I think that everyone should read this novel because it is fabulous.

Zoe Marriott is the type of author that you never get sick of. She writes for the masses, but she doesn’t let them --- and what they might like to see --- affect her novel. For that reason, I think that she is one of the most unique writers that I have read in a long time. When I got to the end of the novel, I was a tad disappointed --- I would like to see a little bit more of what happened after the ending, but alas, I have to wait for the sequel!
