The Secrets of Tree Taylor

Tree Taylor has two goals for the summer before she enters high school: experience her real first kiss and become a famous writer. She’s not exactly sure how to get that kiss, but Tree knows that her first step towards a writing career is landing herself a spot on the Blue and Gold staff. As a part of her high school newspaper, she is sure to write something good.

I felt very connected to Tree and I immediately fell in love with her best friend, Jack.

Just as Tree is struggling to find inspiration for an article that will impress the editor of the Blue and Gold, a gun goes off in the Kinneys’ house. It seems like destiny. All Tree needs to do is learn all the facts, and she knows just where to find them. As Tree starts interviewing her friends and family, she soon learns that some secrets need to be kept.

THE SECRETS OF TREE TAYLOR by Dandi Daley Mackall was an intriguing book. I loved reading about Tree’s friends and adventures in her small town. I felt very connected to Tree and I immediately fell in love with her best friend, Jack. I could almost see Tree and Jack dancing right in front of me!

Although the book was very easy to read, I felt that the content was not suitable for anyone younger than 12. Daley Mackall included very mature subjects such as domestic abuse.
