Skip to main content Reviewers Pick Their Favorite Books of 2012

Recently, we asked our reviewers to provide us with a list of some of their favorite books from 2012. Though it was difficult to narrow down, each reviewer chose up to 10 books that he or she enjoyed the most this year. Take a look and see if any of their selections match yours --- and which titles you may want to consider reading in the future. Please note that due to personal and professional commitments, some reviewers were not able to participate in this feature.

Benjamin Boche

If it's by Garth Nix, you can guarantee it will be good. A nice little science fiction story.
  • BITTERBLUE by Kristen Cashore
The follow-up to GRACELING lives up to the hype.
  • SHADOW AND BONE by Leign Bardugo
One of my favorites of the year, and it's all due to the Shadow Fold: an impenetrable stretch of darkness filled with delightful flesh-eating creatures.
  • THE RAVEN BOYS by Maggie Stiefvater
Once you read this, you'll immediately wish the sequel was out. The good news is that you can pick up any of Stiefvater's other books in the meantime.
  • THE LAST DRAGONSLAYER by Jasper Fforde
A standout fantasy in the sea of fantasies. I couldn't stop laughing.
  • THE INFECTS by Sean Beaudoin
A nice little social commentary on society. Oh, and ZOMBIES!
